Lets Get It On

boy I really, really want a win today. Geaux Tigers!

GREAT tackle by Eugene

I was sure that was set for a gain of 15

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:41 PM CST reply actions

I feel kinda sick about that

I mean, woo turnover and all, but just dumb luck for us that he decided to stretch it out so Chad could swat it out

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:44 PM CST up reply actions

that play was an encapsulation of LSU's season so far

right until the lucky break at the end.

They had Wilson twice and he somehow escaped to make a big play.

I Don't Mean To Get On A Rant Here

but at many levels it seems the basic things have been forgotten. What was the first thing you were told when you started playing football …. protect the darn football at all cost.

by tommyguniii on Nov 8, 2008 2:46 PM CST up reply actions

I said the same thing during Texas-Texas Tech

When Graham Harrell took that awful sack late in the 4th to knock them back 15 yards and result in a missed long FG…almost cost them the game.

I’m surprised how often I see veteran players (at all levels, as you say) forgetting these things lately.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:47 PM CST up reply actions

I Just Don't Get It, I Mean The Thing I Was So Impressed

by the LSU team was until just two weeks ago the running backs had not lost a fumble in like 600+ carries. That is good coaching. And good coaching wins you a lot of football games.

Lee

Okay, over/under on the time into the game at which we have the (first) Lee pick-six?

It’s like the 2006 Saints, we gave up an 80 yard TD seemingly every game so by the end of the year the mantra just became “Let’s get it out of the way early so we have time to battle back from their momentum.” Better early than late.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Well, Lee has certainly been good at doing it early

What a picture of domestic tranquility... Hemlock on the hearth and my wife feeding the piranha.

by Man Mountain on Nov 8, 2008 2:47 PM CST up reply actions

Here we go, third and long

I can’t really complain about two handoffs to Scott right off the bat.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:48 PM CST up reply actions

And there it is

Minus the six.

Lee tries that dangerous throw every damn time. That was just terrible.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:49 PM CST up reply actions

Might as well have been

Although I suppose a little less momentum since it took them three plays.

Wonder if we’ll ever see the 2nd-half-at-Auburn Jarrett Lee.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:56 PM CST up reply actions

This team just looks like it expects bad things to happen

Zero swagger

On the precipice of becoming Larry Coker’s post-title Miami squads. These are the times we learn how great the coaching staff really is.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 2:57 PM CST up reply actions

Is it lack of swagger or lack of moxy or lack of presence?

I often get my intangibles confused

Off Topic, But I Never Thought I'd See A Year

by Man Mountain on Nov 8, 2008 3:01 PM CST reply actions

I wish we could get Dickson more involved

Because I think his dependability would help Lee get more consistent. But I wonder whether the coaches will (understandably, no doubt) hesitate to give Lee that many options over the middle?

YES!!!!

12 men

There were 12 men in the huddle and the refs didn’t flag it. Les was pissed. The TO came after they broke, so it shouldnt have saved them from the penalty.

Why Does Our Secondary Look Near Perfect

on one play and like they’ve never played football on the next?

by tommyguniii on Nov 8, 2008 3:17 PM CST reply actions

they're fine when they're able to rely on their athleticism

but their technique is poor at times, especially, oddly, in tackling after the catch.

Every time Danielson calls this "Real Man Football"

I wonder what fans of other conferences are thinking.

You don’t see this in the other conferences. Down dirty smashmouth football.

3 turnovers converted into 7 points

While this wasn’t a TO, we’ve just GOT to do something here. If Bama goes into the half down seven despite all those nasty breaks, Saban will have them coming out totally rejuvenated in the 3rd.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 3:54 PM CST up reply actions

Points MUST Be Put On The Board

Karma is a bitch and it could easily turn the other way the rest of the game.

If we get the ball back here

Does Jefferson come in and hand it off 3 times?

As I posted at 2:08 PDT, my sense of calm has disappeared. I only hope that LSU can play their 2d half game and Alabama stays with their tendency to lay back in the 2d half.

Well At Least We Get The Ball To Start

Power run, power run, followed by power run. Burn the clock, beat them down, and put 6 on the board.

by tommyguniii on Nov 8, 2008 4:38 PM CST up reply actions

Problem is, Bama's usually up big at the half

They’ll come out firing on every cylinder. If we’re not set for a war (and we clearly weren’t in the 1st half) we will get steamrolled.

by GeauxTigers on Nov 8, 2008 4:39 PM CST up reply actions

Anyone else getting the feeling that we've blown all our chances?

I’m not entirely convinced we haven’t, but this is one of those situations in which I wouldn’t be surprised by a quick Bama TD right out of the gates.

That Is My Point, I Would Have Given It To Scott

Not left it in Lee’s hands. I just assume if you are a top tier college team, late in the game, you ought to be able to run the ball for three yards. If you can’t, well then most times you should lose.

Alabama is now 25-8-2 all-time at Tiger Stadium.

You never know in college football. Bama wasnt supposed to be this good this year but they proved alot of people wrong. LSU won the national championship last year but you cant tell they did by the way the tigers are playing this year. Bama and Florida in the SEC championship. Who knows Florida might beat their ass like they did LSU. You never know in college football.

From What I Saw Today, I Am Pretty Sure

that is going to happen. I think FL is the best team in the nation.

Well I Live In Rural Illinois

I am in the middle of the Big Ten vs. Big 12 conference. I don’t think anybody from the Big 12 wants any part of FL. Now I think any number of those teams are better than the best the PAC 10 or Big Ten has to offer. But mark my words on this.

LSU shoulda won it

Bama lucked out. Jarrett Lee was a human turnover machine. Miles is the superior coach.

I notice the vast majority of hatin' SOB's

are non-LSU partisans. I think most fans of LSU, Alabama, the SEC and football generally were treated to one helluva’ effort. Not a second went by where I was not awed by the individual effort of one player or another —irrespective of their uniforms. This was LSU’s defense playing to their full potential, and Alabama’s front seven stepping up…big boys smacking one another. Les Miles had one helluva’ game plan, especially on offense, Saban had a gameplan to keep attacking on both sides of the ball.

Perhaps this rivalry can now move back to where it belongs: hard fought, tough, physical and actually about the play on the field instead of the extraneous bullshit. Just a wonderful effort by both teams. Every person…every single one of them…on both sides deserves out applause.

Ditto...

when you get physically mauled and ripped for 200+ yards on the ground, that’s not exactly a whipping. This was LSU’s finest defensive performance of the year. Imagine if they had a QB: RP probably cost this team at least 2 games.
