Auburn @ LSU: 6:45 ESPN2
Auburn Tigers at LSU Tigers, Oct 24, 2009 6:30 PM CDT
You would be amazed at how difficult it is to find images of the burning building from the LSU/Auburn game of a few short years ago. I had to settle for this little gem to mock the Auburn faithful.
Game time is 6:45ish. Post your remembrances of Demetrius Byrd, burning buildings, onside kicks, interceptions, cigar chomping, chop blocking, and Jarrett Lee heroics right here.

Big game/
This is the game every year for me. More than any other match up, this is by far the most exciting, most interesting, hardest fought game. I absolutely look forward to it more than any other with the possible exception of our bowl game. I can’t wait for kickoff
Everyone made it yet?

Great drive by Jefferson
His receivers made some drops, but he looked great in the pocket, he got rid of the ball quickly, and he looked off the safety. And he threw a pretty ball. Really, that was as good as Jefferson has ever looked.

the result of kiffin's decision was predictable.. in fact, I predicted it..
it was a bad decision because a bad result was likely, and the likely result occurred. Miles made the decision to take a shot to the end zone rather than set up a longish field goal. Had it not worked, he could have taken the field goal anyway. Kiffin made the decision to use the last minute of the game to set up a long field goal, giving him only one longshot opportunity to win. He could have given himself a much better shot by continuing to try to move the ball. Maybe he gets a touchdown. Maybe he sets up a shorter field goal. Maybe he ends up right where he was. Maybe he gets a turnover and blows it completely. but I think odds are clear that you are better off trying to move the ball more from that point. 45 yard field goals are too unlikely to be successful in college football to just shut it down on offense when you get to the 28 yard line.

You misunderstand me
I don’t have a problem with the throw to the endzone. At all. That was CLEARLY the right move. I have a problem with the time wasted that could have been used to advance the ball closer and make it an easier FG.
That said, Tennessee’s game management today was much worse than the 07 Auburn game.

and yes, ATVSQBPI will not give him credit for a good throw there. Then again, neither would any of the other metrics people use to rate quarterbacks.

It seems like every time we get into a situation like this where we have to make a decision
of “go for it” or “kick a field goal” or “punt”, we end up having play clock problems.

It was intentional, I think
They were giving the punter room. It was never a decision.

many other games. It seems there is an issue getting the play in or Jefferson don’t understand the playbook.
maybe the lights will go out and we won't have to decide.
Clock management and planning for the next play still seems to be a fault.

Speaking of bad clock management...
MSU converts a 3rd and 18 to get to the 35 yard line with 1:50 left in the game. the runner is pushed out of bounds. MSU calls their last timeout. Discuss.

If we don’t blow this game, it has the makings of exactly what we need. A convincing win in which we play well in all phases (except Helton hurting himself on a crappy punt).
It would be nice to ice this one by chewing up yards and time with Scott & Williams.
Not to dwell on the obvious..
but I dare say this is our best performance of the season.

Basically,
if crown of defender’s helmet hits a “defenseless: player” below the face mask. Strictly judgement call.
That's leading with the helmet
Helmet to helmet is another foul, and one that has been applied in the most arbitrary way throughout college football this year.
