We really wanted that Janzen Jackson about a year ago, and we really wanted him about a week ago, and about 24 hours ago. Now, not so much.

Kidding of course.

I feel bad that these young men have apparently thrown away their talent and an opportunity to get a good education for some cheap and stupid thrills. Couldn’t they just bang hot coeds?

untrue accusation

I hear Steve Spurrier has already gone to RTT to say those guys will end up pumping gas because they went to UT.

Still get to wear that orange though.

To quote one of their commentors
Let the trolls come say all we take is thugs, but it’s all in how you handle the situation, not how the situation arises ..cough,cough Urbie….

Let’s see how they handle it. But this is a tragedy. Why would you throw away potential NFL millions for a few bucks now? It’s just stupid.

Well..

it looks like we didn’t come up on the short end of the stick after all. As an aside, it will probably help to limit UT’s recruiting efforts in the State of Louisiana.

Jackson

I thought Jackson was the really odd name in all of this. I had read a lot of articles about him being a really good influence, not only at Tennessee but also in high school. His father is a football coach too. Again, I do not know any of these kids, but would be interested to read anyone else’s thoughts.

Janzen..

was a bit of a shocker. Perhaps he is easily influenced?

What does that say about UT?

Are they just fostering a really bad environment? If that’s how you feel, then I take it you think Kiffin is partially to blame for this.

by Big McLargeHuge on Nov 12, 2009 9:21 AM CST up reply actions

Actually Jackson's Dad

Specifically said he wanted to get his son away from bad influences close to home.

I guess if he’d gone to LSU a real gun would have been involved instead of a pellet gun.

Effect on Tenn's 2010 recruiting...

Wonder if players already committed to join the team will now think twice?

I suppose it could also be a plus, “hey we got openings here!”

by TigerPaw on Nov 12, 2009 9:17 AM CST reply actions

I don't...

…think it would have too much of an effect on their recruiting, assuming they are all kicked off the team immediately. In 2008 Alabama had similar problems with Jimmy Johns and Jeremey Elder, and yet Alabama still finished with the number one recruiting class.

I guess the one counterpoint that could be made was all three of these players were recruited specifically by Kiffin’s staff. When it happened at Alabama, right or wrong, everyone blamed the previous staff. Obviously, that is not an argument that could be made here.

UPDATE

Knoxville police are now saying that the pellet gun found in the Prius is registered to UT quarterback Jonathan Crompton.

They knew it was Crompton's pellet gun

When they shot it at and not only was the shot not straight, but it hit a complete different object than intended.

by NOPE on Nov 13, 2009 8:19 AM CST up reply actions

At least we know they weren't robbing anyone for gas money

after sitting out 2010 Jackson can be ready for us in 2011.

If..

his involvement in this situation is as limited as some reports are speculating and is able to transfer if he so decides, I don’t think he transfers to LSU. Our Defensive backfield is loaded, and will be even more so by the time (hypothetically speaking) he would be able to join the team. Better odds of him transferring to Ole Miss or Auburn if he were to transfer I would think.

I think the only hope for these idiots is

there is video of this incident, and the guy reviewing is an SEC reply booth official. Otherwise they are probably screwed.
