At least our defense is good: LSU 56 Indiana State 45

I just woke up.  I pulled an all-nighter Sunday Night because I had to read Henry James' The Aspern Papers, and I picked 6:00 last night to crash.  I woke up at 5, showered, and checked the box score.

The first thing that stands out is our defense.  We held the Sycamores to just 30% shooting from the field and 25% from the arc.

And then there's our own shooting and this really, really ugly mark:

0-15.

LSU took 15 shots from behind the 3-point arc and didn't sink a single one.  That hurts.

Bo was 0-5.  Taz was 0-4.  Everyone else was 0-6.

I don't think I have to tell you that this mark stinks.  Perimeter shooting is still a big part of our game, and if we don't sink some, we're going to struggle.  And if we can't sink ONE, well, we just need to improve.

Just an ugly night for scoring all around.  Bo, just ten points and that 0-5 from threeland.  Taz just eight points (though he did nab 14 points).  Chris Bass just 2 points and 2 assists.

Storm Warren continues his hot start, grabbing his second double-double of the season in the second game of the season (14 points 12 boards).

Dennis Harris continues to be the more effective of the two centers, gathering 10 points and 8 rebounds.

So there's potential.  Storm Warren and Dennis Harris are looking less like question marks and more like a stud and a solid player respectively.  Freshman Eddie Ludwig was effective from the bench, grabbing 3 boards and 4 points in his ten minutes.

Still, this team NEEDS to start sinking its threes, or we will be in trouble.

Western Kentucky also advanced, and we play them tonight.  Unfortunately, I won't be at this game either because I have a chorus concert tonight.  I know.  I'm so cool.

Ha..

didn’t realize the amount of D you are allowed to play when your opponent is shooting free throws. Maybe I have been out of touch for too long and the game has just passed me by.

But this was a good write up. Our D is solid, but our 3 point shooting will stymie us offensively this season.

At the end of the day

I was at the game last night

And Storm Warren was a monster. He was easily our best player on the floor. He carried the team through the first half.

No one should ever have to read Henry James

Personal opinion, but he has got to be my least favorite Great Novelist. I think he sucks.
