and I was stunned when I saw some news breaking on this, kind of sports related, on the really “geeky” political blogs I follow daily. It is just said at some many different levels I don’t know where to start. Mini-rant ended, lets play some football.
offense start off fast, defense, make your presence known!!

Jefferson's ankle is the wild card in this game
If he can run and avoid sacks, we win
CHAD JONES! WOOOO!!!!
McCluster 's #1 Memory of Ole Miss
Will be walking through “The Grove.” Really, I mean really? Must not have been that good of a college experience :)!
All season we’ve been having guys rush the QB and miss the sack because of overrunning the play, or, in this case, forgetting that they have strength in their arms. Really, if I guy as big as Woods is flying into a QB and gets an arm around him, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be sacked right there. Ugh!
I Feel Like Our Players Have Some Much Talent
they think they can get by with just that and don’t just do the basics that are taught to kids that are 10.
Ouch, Outch, Ouch
wonder if he can’t plant on that sore ankle to throw, cause that was just terrible.
Film session
Someone should make a tape of every option we have run this year with Jefferson or Lee and force Crowton & Miles to watch.
Maybe then they’ll understand what a boon those plays are to our opposition.
And Jefferson made a shitty throw.
College Football "Needs To Pull Up Their Skirts"
and be men (not trying to be sexist). But noway that should have been a penalty for diving into the end zone.
And Yell They Will After This
I mean talk about a huge change of events in a matter of a minute. Instead of 0-10 it is 7-3.
WOW What a turn of events!!!!! TD Patrick Peterson!!!
Special teams with a play
TD!

Gentlemen (and Jane)
After we celebrate…a thought…Have we let replay/review totally control the games now. I’m not sure technology has made the game better.
my uncle always says the same thing.
replay review was supposed to fix the screw ups. i think it was better when if you got a bad call it just sucked and you moved on.

Well that was just blown coverage
Looked like it was PP’s fault
Whatever..tighten up in the redzone
Diagnosing the defense
Ole Miss has had several plays well-called to exploit our defensive alignment or coverage. All of their positive plays, and even the incomplete pass to Bolden on the previous possession—good thing Snead overthrew that.
Meanwhile, McCluster is getting smacked around when we do get to him.
Unfortunately
Gregatron is not responsible for any of the crap he just wrote.

I'd like to see us just try it 50 yards downfield to LaFell
If he ever gets single coverage.
Thanks
I’m at work and I can’t see shite.

Is Dickson out today?
If so, LaFell’s going to have to keep being that safety valve over the middle
Sorry about that.
I was so excited that we actually moved the ball that my fingers got spastic.

WOW!!!! Great toss and catch. I didn't think the throw was on the mark
Great job by JJ in the pocket there
This is why I love Gary Danielson
You know that, staring that pass rush down, Jefferson was reminded of getting speared in the chest two weeks ago at Bama. Just a really really wonderful job of hanging in there by JJ. Hats off on that play
No
I was asking because of the football story that Jordy told.

In other news
Oklahoma is putting together a very LSU 2008 type of year. Fresh off a national title appearance (we won, though, heheh)…they have totally crumbled. 5th loss today, 41-13 to Texas Tech.
can't stop them
It looks like our defense may be on the field for 80 plays again today.
Yech, they're putting together a good drive here
Our offense is going to have to end up putting together a lot more than just that one drive
I don't know
I was just throwing stuff around in the control room when Hawthorn was talking about it.
by Purpletiger006 on Nov 21, 2009 3:33 PM CST up reply actions
We got bailed out by 2 things there
1) The false start on 3rd and 2 at the 5
2) Their deciding not to try throwing it in the endzone
Either way, D holds!
FG Good!

Naw, I like
to see a tailback just run into a mob as if he can move them…However, the play call could be a QBSneak

I don't think they'll bite on a play action
I’m okay with anything that gets us 5ish yards, closer for a 47ish ydFG
My Lord JJ looked slow on that run
Ugly ugly ugly
I'm guessing they told him to just play it safe and get a couple yards
But still wanted to show Ole Miss that the run game is still in play with JJ
They were saying on the radio that Williams had a huge hole if he would have been able to keep the ball.
indeed.
that one was on the kicker…little too much angle on it.

Well, Snead made a few great throws on that drive
Aside from the one long run early by McCluster, we’ve generally contained him
If the O would hold the ball for more than a couple of minutes, it probably wouldn’t look like this. It’s kind of hard for the defense to be on the field this much. The time of posession is almost doubled-up for the first half.
holy cow
don’t throw into such tight coverage!
Wow, Jefferson didn't even try to make a play with his legs there
At least he got out of the pocket
It'd be nice

A more experienced QB reads that blitz
And instinctively knows where to go with that ball.
Oh well, can’t expect him to be a superstar yet. He’s still playing a good game.
I'll take a 2 point lead at the half
And getting the ball back first
need to come out firing, j.j is hurt though, let sheppard throw the ball
by stick em' tigers on Nov 21, 2009 4:20 PM CST reply actions
loose ends
I didn’t like the onside kick call. Our defense hasn’t shown it can be trusted to stop them on a short field. At that point in the half, we needed to kick deep, stop them and prevent them from getting another possession in the half. We were up 8 at the time. The short field helped them score, and they still got the ball back with over 90 seconds remaining in the half. Why they didn’t throw once baffles me.
After seeing the replay, I change my mind. I think GeauxTigers was right about JJ’s TD pass. It was a tiny bit underthrown; Randle had to slow down to wait for it.
I loved it even if it didn't work.
We could have taken all the momentum…
And I’m sorry, the ball was coming out as the knee went down, the call should not have been overturned…
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Now, now
we know the call was correct since it was reviewed…surely you don’t think humans could make a mistake with all the technological advances.
I was relieved by their decision to run out the half
I think they left a timeout or two on the board, too.
I was against the idea of the kick at first, but I guess I don’t feel particularly strong about it one way or another. On the one hand, it gave the D a short field to work with. On the other, it very well could have given the offense a chance to get a real rhythm going with a comfortable lead.
Medical Treatment (blush) will help JJ
You can bet the trainers/docs are working with him, reshooting, rewrapping, whatever is required.
How can we get a delay of game coming out of the FREAKING HALF??????????
by Purpletiger006 on Nov 21, 2009 4:39 PM CST up reply actions
F minus
Run for 0
Sack
Delay
Awful near-pick
At least the punt coverage was solid
reset
So, let’s imagine the first two series didn’t matter and we get to re-start the second half right now, at about the same place where we started it.
What is crowton's gameplan here?
Instead of using our te’s we keep trying to throw to our wrs who are way covered
Well, on 2nd down JJ was laser focused from pre-snap on Dickson
And then fired it into what looked like triple coverage on the slant route to him
true
but if we would use him when hes in single coverage more he could open things up
I'm just not sure
what is happening. Or is not happening…
Thought it was an injury to JJ, but just doesn’t seem to be all the problem.
GREAT defensive play call there
With the blind side blitz
Jai Eugene and Chris Hawkins
Why are we starting Jai or Chris?
We did it when we needed it vs Georgia, didn't we?
I think we had a 91 yard TD drive in that game
Jeff threw that one w/ authority
LaFell just let him down, looked like
Ahh, there's the stalling offense we've come to know and love
He waits FOREVER for plays to develop downfield whenever we ask him to try it, and gets sacked so frequently
I am officially
IN FAVOR OF HAVING CROWTON WALK HOME
So this is when we fold
Bit earlier than in the Bama game
May have gotten bailed out there
3rd and 12, huge one coming up here
1st down coming up
we will somehow leave a man wide open again
Hah, no problem
I said it because as soon as the offense crumbled in very annoying fashion there, the D gets gashed right down the field
Still got the lead guys
and plenty of game to play.
The defense is still in bend but don’t break mode, and they’re giving us the chance to win.
The offense showed a pulse last possession, but they need to stop stepping on their…um…you know.
Wouldn't surprise me
All I know is that it would make me rest easy after a few years when all his recruits are out of the SEC if that does happen.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Agreed it's not game yet...
…but we clearly don’t have anyone we can depend on on offense right now. Don’t know how we’re going to get this done, but I’m still optimistic we can!
Problem is that the offense has done little to show that they're capable of making the plays
At some point, you have to stop blaming the play calls and look at what’s on the field. I hope JJ can progress next year.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Where was I blaming play calls?
Just to repeat: “clearly we don’t have anyone we can depend on on offense”
You're not
And I never said you were. That was just a generic statement about our offense. I’ve actually been giving Crowton the benefit of the doubt lately and he’s been reviled by a lot of people.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Gotta love those trick plays
Damn. It was more fun when we did it to Auburn last year.
What an awful awful offense.
This is just excruciating to watch

The defense hasn't been the problem
Unfortunately, they’re looking tired.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
I wonder if this 3rd and 5 is two down territory for Nutt
Does it matter if they give us the ball at our own 40?
Damn, that was a killer conversion
Great throw on the run by jevan
OM is melting clock now
really, we may only have one more possession.
Great tackle by Jones.
Good to see Chad Jones is still playing!!!
Awrighty then, another 3rd and long!! LET’S GO, D!!!!
OK EVERYBODY
NO Negative Thoughts, Beleive in JJ, beleive in Crowton, Beleive in the HAT!!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Then I'll refrain from posting until the end of the game
Then the negative thoughts return.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Our return game is going to have to do the work here
Like say, getting us 80 of the 100 yards necessary
With you on that
We don’t think we can get the push for one freaking yard, evidently
No way, not from the 1
Sorry, SouthernMan, I agree with you on a lot of stuff….not there
Which I NEVER doubted, uh uh, not once, ever.
Hah…I kid. But still, great for him to get that redemption at least
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!
What a play!!!!! LaFELL!!!!!
Good time for JJ to realize he can't take the sack.

Another year, another loss to Ole Miss
Thank you, Les Miles. I’ve been saying it since last season. Miles has to go.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
For what?
If you don’t have time to line up your field goal unit, make sure they go for the end zone. They had one second to try for it. There was also the problem of Les waiting far too long to call a time out on third down. Plain and simple, Les blew another game.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
He deserves criticism for that
but he hasn’t blown ANOTHER game he’s blown this one and he is not the first coach to lose a freaking game
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
But the decisionmaking process tonight is inexcusable
There is NO excuse for not having the FG unit ready to line up prior to the 4th down play call, so that if it gets caught, you immediately get them out on the field.
To say nothing of the sheer idiocy of running a spike with 1 second left. That’s impossible.
Oh really?
How many games did he blow by starting Lee? How did he screw the program over by letting go of a QB he couldn’t control? Honestly man. I can’t stand Miles at all and yet another game blown by him proves it.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Les deserves every bit of criticism he's going to get for this ending
This was atrocious, atrocious head coaching for a game-winning drive.
I agree completely
There is not excuse for this. None.

That's bullshit
We called no screens to slow their rush until the last two series. No draws the whole game. A fade route from the 1.5 yard line for the two-point conversion.
I’ve been a Miles supporter up to this point and still am, but he and his coaching staff lost that game.

When you want someone fired, you’re not thinking about who they need to hire next. You just want a fresh start. The status quo isn’t working and it hasn’t worked for some time now. Miles has to go. It’s just that simple. Obviously they’d have to hire someone after that.

Similar to Auburn in '07
Watching that game was earily similar to the ending of the Auburn LSU during the “national champion” year in ’07. It was practically the same situation, LSU needed a field goal to beat Auburn and they were in field goal range except there was complete panic and chaos on the LSU side line and LSU got bailed out by a lucky play on a horrible play call. People were calling Miles a genius at that point when in reality it was horrible situational awareness that got bailed out by a lucky play. Not this time.
There was a firefight!!!!

by Tigernut on Nov 21, 2009 6:44 PM CST up reply actions
No it wasn't
It was pure luck. The coaches had no idea of the time and situation. Its one thing if you are down by 3 and want to win the game, but when you need a field goal and the ball is on the 23 yard line and you have an above average field goal kicker you center the ball and call a time out with a second left and kick the field goal. Ask anybody and they thought LSU got lucky and it was a horrible call that was bailed out by a bad corner back.

I’ve had it with Crowton as well. I can write a lot off to a true sophomore as QB, but if Crowton’s offense requires a fifth year senior to run effectively we need a new offensive philosophy. Not to mention the fact that simple playcalling this year has been atrocious.
CHAD JONES! WOOOO!!!!
A good coach can win 6 or 7 games a year.
There are three critical games for each team each year. Great coaches win those games.
THAT is the difference.
We should be in the midst of a dynasty, not scrapping for a NYD second or third tier bowl.
Oh well, Southern Man, I guess the Chick-Fil-A Bowl is good enough for you.
The only thing worse than losing is not winning.
by Tigernut on Nov 21, 2009 6:48 PM CST reply actions
NO its not
But there was a discernable reason we fell off last year and for the most part this year.
This game was horrible the way it finished but frankly we could have beaten all 3 teams we lost to but this is the only one we SHOULD have won and if you want to fire a guy that won us a NC for that then we deserve what we get!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
What???
SouthernMan,
Apparently you love Miles but we just got what we deserve by continuing to have him as the LSU Coach. These are suppose to be intelligent, forward thinking coaches who are very well paid. What we got tonight was the exact opposite. A high school coach could have called the last 30 seconds of that game as well or better. Miles supporters got exactly what they deserve, another poor showing of coaching and leadership. And his interview after the game, what a pathetic excuse. SAD. And there is no way to be a “dynasty” with that coaching effort and for others of his past.
What would concern me...
…if I were an LSU fan was not just the way he handled the end of the game so poorly, but the way he couldn’t even articulate what the hell they were trying to do on the field after the game was over. If you knew that you couldn’t get the FG team on the field (inexcusable), and you knew that spiking the ball was not going to work because you only had one second left (inexplicable), then why not at least TRY to get in the end zone? Seriously, my wife could tell that was stupid.
Even before that though, once LaFell made that amazing play to get into FG range, just run the ball three times and kick. What the hell? Reminds me of Mike Dubose trying to run out the clock against Auburn and instead of just handing off we try a lateral pass, which gets fumbled. Auburn recovers and wins the game. Same kind of stupid.
"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.

Congratulations, Tim Tebow and Urban Myer. Don’t forget to send your friend Les a Christmas present.
The only thing worse than losing is not winning.

NO
We win Florida with a better QB, we win Alabama with better Refs and we win tonight with better coaching
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Cry Babies
SouthernMan…..you win Alabama if you had a better team, PERIOD! The refs didn’t cause LSU the game….LSU sucking cost you that game! You’re maybe correct about tonight…better coaching COULD have given you a WIN. But, you guys would have never won against BAMA or Florida. Come back down to reality!
Still Cry Babies
I take it by your reply that you KNOW i’m right. Go cry your little self to sleep. Plain and Simple, you guys just did NOT have a good team this year. Maybe next year you will, but who knows. One thing i DO know is only LOSERS make excuses for why they lost, and blame everyone else but themselves. LSU is responsible for every LOSS this year….no one else!!
Still Cry Babies ??
You show with a single posing that you don’t know squat RAGE74. Every team is responsible for every loss, what a freaking bright statement. "you may be right about tonight…better coaching COULD have given you a WIN. Your whole post shows how ignorant you really are. COACHING lost the game for LSU tonight, and your other comments aren’t even worth commenting on. unforunately any idiot with an internet connection can show their ignorance.
LOSERS
Like i said…only LOSERS blame everyone else!! I haven’t posted previously because it’s not that important. But, I’m tired of LSU fans making excuses for their shortcomings! Be a man, and admit you guys got BEAT! And by the way…nothing i said was ignorant….I was actually agreeing with SouthernMan about tonight. Better coaching could have resulted in a win tonight for LSU—that’s the 3rd time it’s been said. So, i guess you’re ignorant since you can’t tell when someone is agreeing with you! And, my post about coaching tonight is very loosely based. Good coaching doesn’t necessarily bring home the win tonight! It could have…but it wasn’t a given. You guys could have scored more points in the first 3 quarters of the game and controlled your own destiny. No one forced you guys to take it down to the wire….you could have put the game away before 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter. But, you guys are not that good this year, and YES, Les Miles made a huge error at the end of the game! That’s why you guys LOST!!
By the way, ‘posting’ is spelled with a T….who’s ignorant now!!
“You show with a single posing that….”
GEAUX REBELS!!!
Someone ban that guy
Please
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Why do you want to ban me . . .
because the truth hurts????
Because all you're doing is insulting LSU fans here
How is that constructive? Calling us losers is not constructive.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
No . . .
I’m trying to be constructive my letting you know to stop making excuses for loses because it REALLY gets old!
If you don't like what we have to say
Don’t post at an LSU board. Is it really that hard?
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Rebel.
Should have known is was an ignorant rebel. probably graduated from the Ole Miss School of Flaw. yep, flaw. You should send a big THANK YOU note to Coach MIles on your win today. And I blamed the LSU Coaching staff and clearly stated that. But then Ole Miss has a NUT for a coach and you who apparently can’t read and comprehend it all. go figure.
GEAUX TIGERS.
Ironic . . .
I am most certainly NOT an Ole Miss Rebel; however, I do root for them on occassion as I root for LSU on occassion. Just like an LSU homer to make inferences about the intellectual capacity of others yet not be able to understand the simple irony of the phrase “GEAUX REBELS” — when I’m not even a rebel!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just rooting for the underdog in this case. As for my intellectual capacity, I think you, KKCAJUN, would find it hard to match my level of academic accomplishments. I have a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a Master’s degree in computer science, and am currently working on my PhD; therefore, I think I can definitely read your menial posting and understand it.
However, this is about FOOTBALL so let’s try to keep the conversations on point with intelligent arguments about play and coaching on the field (or LACK THEREOF) on the part of the LSU tigers.
Looks like the play-calling finally came back to bite the Mad Hatter!
Ironic
Read all your posts, you obviously don’t remember everything you post. Intellectual capacity, LOL, so looks like you are a school jockey and need to get out in the real world and apply some of that math. And one thing we seem to agree on, The heavily injured Tigers certainly lack solid play on the field. And the coaching was simply CRAP. And the coaching has been for some times. and you mention underdogs, Vegas had Ole Miss favored. I’d expect a math and football follower to know that. And you can tout all your education and classroom experience, it don’t pay squat. I know, I’m a Technology Management consultant with a World Wide Company solving complex computer and business issues. Get out in the real world as classroom sucess doesn’t always equate to real world sucess. But I do wish you luck, but I’ve fired math and CS majors cause they could remember their passwords or perform simple tasks. So get out of the books and start applying your smarts to resolving today’s problems and issues (please don’t tell me you are going to be an actuary). And on your last comment, poor clock management bit the Mad Hatter.
And who calls the plays that run down the clock?
That’s right — you guessed it — LES MILES. So any way you want to look at it, the Mad Hatter was bit by his poor play calling. Had Les made more judicious use of his plays and watched the time it took to make those plays, his PLAY CALLING wouldn’t have come back to bite him! As for the Tigers being favored by Vegas, I DID know that; however, I (incorrectly) gave LSU the benefit of the doubt and picked them as the stronger team — as their only losses are to the top teams in the country (Florida and Bama); this being the reason I took Ole Miss to be the underdog (again despite the Vegas odds). Despite sporadic play throughout the year, I truly thought LSU was the better team even with the Vegas odds; therefore, I was smart enough to throw those numbers out the window — because numbers are not the be-all-end-all (you think you’d understand that if you are truly successful in the business world as you say; sometimes the biggest successes come DESPITE what should logically happen). If you think that it’s wrong to believe that Ole Mill was the underdog, then by admission you must admit that you thought your OWN TEAM was the inferior team! Way to go with that team spirit. I know this loss hurt, but get over yourself. Put on your big girl panties and DEAL WITH IT (and without making excuses)!!!!!
