This is the worst lost I've ever experienced
Les Miles singlehandedly lost the game tonight. He couldn’t have done a worse job. And how many times has this been the case now? How many excuses does he expect us to swallow? His players to swallow? LES MILES is the problem with this football program!
Agreed - He needs to go . . . to Michigan
How unprepared can a coach be? Rich Rodriguez will be gone from Michigan at the end of this season. Please, Blue, call Les Miles and make him an offer he can’t refuse. Miles is a Big 10 coach, not an SEC coach.
HEARD THAT!!!!
The game was WON!!! Had it not been for LESS we would be celebrating a GREAT edge of your seat victory!!! BUT NO! Les F***** up! Why the h*** did Shepard just sit on the sidelines?? Why did’nt he play Shepard?? Hey, way to go AJ Woods fellow E-Town man!!

I have been a Les Miles supporter, having endured the post “help Mac pack” years—and they were grim. Having said that, Les lost me tonight, too. His game management was just inexcusable, pure and simple. Although we played poorly and we were outcoached in the second half, still on both sides of the ball, that was a win we should have stolen but we didn’t because Les just wasn’t ready for what unfolded. I’m sure he is a good man and I wish him the best but it will be very hard for him to overcome this—for very good reason.
This loss is disturbing
I can’t say Les lost me because I don’t realy know here to place the blame. I’ll leave this by saying at a minimum Crowton has to go. Other than that I’ll have to sober up and calm down.

Crowton, at the least
And let’s not forget it was Les’s decision to have co-D coordinators last year, so… good luck with that.
Les lost me last season
Just saying.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
You guys
are in a hard place and this is coming from a Bama fan so obviously I’m an outsider.
But, you can’t fire Les right now because he won a NC just 2 years ago. I mean that is worth 5 years tenure. Your best hope is that he leaves, but unfortunately for you, Michigan is not going to take him now, they would take Harbaugh if they dump RR.
So, I’d say you are stuck with Les for at least 3 or 4 more years. Which means you are stuck being the #2 or #3 team in the West as long as Saban stays at Bama. And I know you guys don’t believe Saban will stay, and I know you all are surprised at how well he has done, but it looks like he is going to stay a while. His daughter is a freshman at Bama and in a sorority and I just can’t see Saban leaving until she graduates, if then.
So you are stuck with Les. You are not going to beat Urban or Saban in the next few years and you are going to struggle with Nutt and Petrino.
But hey, he is doing a great job of recruiting so when he finally does leave in about 3 or 4 years you will have a good team for the new coach.
But you just are not going to be able to fire the guy when he won a NC and will still win 8 or 9 games and get you guys into the Peach Bowl. The Peach is not a bad bowl.
So you ought to forget this fire Miles stuff and focus on reality. A stupid coach got incredibly lucky for one year and now HE IS LSU FOOTBALL. Glad I’m not you.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
Hey 2 years
ago LSU was able to pull out a 4th qt. win over Bama when our QB made some stupid mistakes in Saban’s 1st Season. That has not happened the last 2 years.
But I see that most LSU fans want to keep Les, I think you have to keep Les, and the rest of the conference is glad you are going to keep Les. I mean he is great comedy. He and Kiffin are the comedy relief of the conference and we thank you for having him as your coach.
But, I’m just telling you, don’t expect to win the West the next few years. Expect to go 8-4 or 9-3 the next few years and play in the Peach Bowl or maybe the Cotton. Your coach is just not that smart and your team is very unorgainzed. I mean it is crazy that you keep taking time outs because you are not lined up right on offense.
And why did you not run the ball on the 2nd 2pt. try? You only had to make 1 yard and that guy, I think # 35, he ran it in on us.
I’ll tell you why. Because you dumb coach has a 2pt. play, the fade, and that is what he is going to use when he goes for 2 no matter what. Even if you are going for two on the 1, he is going to use his 2 pt. play.
And you will lose to Arky next week. They are on the way up and you guys are on the way down.
I hate the NCAA more than UT & AU combined. At least with UT & AU you got a fighting chance.
LSU will be on the way down as long as Les Miles is coach
But don’t think for a minute that Saban will stay. Saban has always been an opportunist and don’t think he wouldn’t mind taking an offer from ND.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
If ND offers him more money, you won't be laughing
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
I am not here to gloat or rub salt but
in response to Notre Dame offering him more money, we can afford to match anything they offer. If he does ever leave, we are much better for his being here. LSU would not be where they are today, fighting for SEC West, SECCG and NC’s without Saban’s time spent in BR.
LSU has as much or more talent than BAMA and UF but their coaching is sub-par. I know how it is to be stuck with a coach you do not believe in, trust me, we had quite a few like that. When they do let Les go, at least the cupboard will not be bare. Unless they make the mistake of keeping Les for 3 or 4 more years.
Auburn and Tennessee fans are a lot like Slinkys...neither are worth much but you do get a sense of satisfaction from pushing them down a flight of stairs
Dear Bama Fan
I must’ve been asleep when you won a national title this decade. So take your haughty how great our program is talk and shove it up your ass. You needed several awful calls and a near Biblical rash of injuries to beat us. I’m not impressed.

Now I think you're the one missing the point.
Our coach wouldn’t let the final seconds slip away. You know why? Cause he’s already planned for that scenario (see here.).
Obviously, Les had not. Now, if we project the future based on the bast two years, it’s not a logical leap to say we’re on the way up and you’re on the way down.
Also, I missed the part where you beat a team worth a damn this year. We won. Get over it.
yeah
i’m sure you guys could’ve won if you’d just gotten that interception (and yes, it was an interception and a terrible call). i mean, your offense no doubt would’ve suddenly been able to grow wings and get an actual first down or more than 9 yards in the 4th. and your defense would’ve magically been able to stop bama’s offense through the miracle of interception fairy-dust.
whatever. normally i wouldnt comment here, but i swear to god i’ve never seen a collective fanbase, other than tennesssee’s, whine like little bitches when their team just gets beaten by a better team.
also i’m compelled to say something because ever since saban came to bama, we’ve had to deal with lsu fans talking shit about how miles is just as good as saban, all the while ignoring miles’ boneheaded playcalling that happened with alarming regularity in almost every single lsu game i’ve witnessed. maybe it was because you had the athletic talent to prevent it from biting you in the ass that you turned a blind eye. but seriously—YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST NOW NOTICING THIS?
miles won the NC with talent that was still imprinted with saban’s mindset. they were “saban’s players” in this most critical aspect. now you still have equal athletic talent, yet these kids are in les miles land.
good luck with that.
"Have you seen my highlights?" - Javier Arenas
You're an idiot
You saw what we did tonight when we got a chance with our offense. We went right down the field, twice, in 2 minutes. And what had we done before that? Punted every possession of the second half. So to say factually that we wouldn’t have been able to move the ball is pure idiocy.
A bridge is missing its troll
Seriously, shut the fuck up. I don’t give a shit about Bama. I don’t give a shit about Saban. Go sell your haughty How Great Bama Is and How Awful LSU Is to someone who gives a damn. Win a title or shut the fuck up.
Most of the aftermath has been us bitching about Miles, not anything else. So talk about how we’re whining somewhere else. You’re a fucking troll. Enjoy being banned. Fuck off.

I think you were a little soft there.
Seriously, I’d understand some Rebels coming over here to have some fun at our expense, but really, what’s with the Tiders (not talking about Bamabrave4 and the like)?
Insecurity
By contrast, notice that Bamabrave didn’t feel the need to trash talk because he’s pretty secure where Bama is, while a regular over here like Gerry Dorsey isn’t making these kinds of comments. Because those guys KNOW their program is good, and they don’t need to look to us for validation.

I thank you for that.
To the other Bama flamers, OK, I don’t speak for everyone, but I will say right now that, yes, Saban is a great coach (better than Miles), you won that game against us fair and square, and I am having some buyer’s remorse about the Hat right now. In regard to the last of these, I need to think on it a bit, but until then, turn out the lights in your parents’ basement, turn the TV to the all-night MMA channel, and leave us the hell alone. I mean, really, you’ve got Iron Bowl and Atlanta to keep you occupied.
We all have our share of trolls
In generally I think most Bama fans’ comments have been most objective and classy, esp during the week LSU played them. I appreciate most of you guys as ATVS members.

why?
I don’t think there is anyone out there who could honestly say this loss was not Les Miles fault. the play calls have been questionable most of the season, there is no discipline on offense or defense and that begins with the head coach! why didn’t he call time out sooner ? why didn’t he use shepard at least once on last drive? what is with jefferson? with the last play why wasn’t field goal crew ready to run out? Is it because Les really doesn’t believe in his players? or is he unable to think of possibilities?
The Loss was Miles' Fault
But that it is not a reason to fire him, calm down and sober up!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Amen
It’s one game. Have we already forgotten all of the close 4th quarter wins Les Miles has given us?
I know where I've seen coaching like that before...
It was Mike Shula-esque!
"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.

Disagree......
Shula would have put in the jumbo package and run it three times…….then we would have missed the FG……and lost in 5 overtimes………

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS...............
CROWTON MUST GO………………… WE PUNTED THE THE WHOLE 3RD QTR.

Amen to that
Crowton’s incompetence is why Ole Miss got back into the game. The D did all they could with the time of possession starkly against them.
I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

The D's been OK keeping the score down
but they’ve been horrible all year getting the other team’s offense off the field. The offense has really sucked and I fully agree that Crowton needs to go. But it’s hard to get in an offensive rhythm when your possessions are so far apart. 3rd and Chavis really hasn’t helped us out too much there.
I came to post something awesome,
but my clock ran out. Shit. Hotty Toddy anyway!

Crowton Lost Me Against LaTech
Miles lost me last night.
If he wasn’t able to see the problems that Crowton has been causing, and fix them, then he is part of the problem.
The brain cramp after third down is less than Bush League. Then being completely dumbfounded in the postgame interview makes me wonder if he needs a drug test.
What is certain
1..LSU has the better talent
2..Talent is diminished when play calling is inappropriate (screens, draws, misdirections against a strong rush are football commandments)
3..Coaching strong points vary
=
I told e mailed a bunch of people with 5 min left…declaring Rebels the winner due to superior coaching and play calling…great talent is like a faucet that must be turned on…not constricted by inappropriate plays and such…LSU has a lethal problem (besides G. Lee still being on the team) and that is the O Cord…the world saw it again…talent means you can run the play and have it work but why so many high risk plays game after game? Why so few slant passes when you have a 6-5 receiver? Now this. This ends ALL debate in some areas. After creaming GT in the last Bowl I thought we would never have a season full of bonehead penalities on offense…but nooooo…killing drive after drive after half the season is done? Another red flag. This game will be a fan sore sore spot for at least a year…and rightly so…
(keep in mind an SEC timeclock was broken…talk about fate helping…its a lot easier to glance up at a clock that cahse officials or assume others have…destiny is like that…now, will the Coach M do what needs to be done? That is the next question)
edit reelman
should be " I e mailed" and “catch” officials
bass tourney bummer yesterday then the Tiger bummer…my bad—-
Miles has not LOST me completely,
but he did show his ass. This was really, really bad game management.
I have been saying on ATVS for a while that there are three characteristics that a good college coach should have. In order of importance:
1) Recruiter — we still get top notch talent. No one can dispute that Miles does this VERY well.
2) Preparation — traditionally this has been a strength of Miles. However, recently with the offensive debacles, this is fast becoming a weakness. However, a lot of you guys have forgotten the undefeated record LSU has in bowl games and season openers. When we have the time to prepare, we typically destroy teams.
3) Game management — this is an obvious and glaring weakness. It just cost LSU a win against OLE MISS. Fuck that. I’m angry, and most of you guys should be. However, Miles’ (Miles’s?) aggressiveness sometimes helps to make his decisions near optimal. Unfortunately he has dialed back the aggressiveness.
Miles’ recruiting and past accomplishments give him a little time to rectify these problems imo. I have been a Miles loyalist — most of you guys know this. But it’s becoming harder to defend him in the wake of this.

This is where I stand
I was a big fan of Miles until these last few games and then all the little problems we have been having allowed doubt to come into my mind. I DO think it’s time for Crowton to go
Greg
I think you should change “Recruiting” to “Roster Management” and include several sub catagories like recruiting, talent evaluation, and player development.
Everyone agrees that Les and his staff are great recruiters, but I don’t think they are very good at the talent evaluation or player development portion. As a whole I think their “Roster Management” catagory is very average.
I think it all comes back to Crowton
With the exception of last year, defensively we’ve done a great job developing players, with Pelini and Chavis. Offensively, our receivers I think have always been developed well, running backs don’t require much coaching, but as far as quarterback development, we are average, at best.
Think about it. Who on defense has NOT improved this year? Everyone has. And the improvements have been massive, not just slightly better. Offensively, nobody made a significant step forward except for Toliver. Lafell is still a beast, and I guess you could say RJ Jackson has progressed a lot too, but Crowton is killing us. It’s a shame, because he really is an incredibly smart guy, but whether it’s the practice time, inexperienced quarterback, or what, it’s just not working.
Who's to Blame?
My question is who really is to blame? Les is not the only person on the field who can call a time out after the 3rd down play. What were the players, and assistant coaches thinking? Were they thinking? I have seen, in person, Jr. High Football games with better clock management at the end of a game. If you don’t have anyone on your team, player or coach that is smart enough to call the final timeout with 21 seconds remaining, rather than waiting until the clock has ran down to 9 seconds you do not deserve to win the game, and as an LSU fan I personally don’t beleive that any of them deserve to wear the jersey on this night. This is not a trig problem or some crazy physics equation, this is simple time conservation. I mean what was Les’ logic; “Hey if we wait and don’t get the first down we won’t have to wait on them to snap the ball one time, we can just go and get on the bus.” I am very dissapointed in the whole game. It should not have come to that. LSU is more talented than Ole Miss, more physical and faster across the board. Sure Ole Miss has a couple of great athletes but they should have been no match for the Tigers. One more thing while I am ranting. Please someone tell Les that all of the shifting before the play is hurting your team. You are more talented than any team in the nation. Call a play, line up and run it, stop with all of the gimmicks that teams need to use that have inadequate talent.
Biggest beneficiary of this fiasco...
The LSU Defense. Nobody is talking about them today.
Watching Charles Alexander and Alem get blown up play after play, allowing Snead to complete a dozen straight passes, and seeing their receiver Hodge run wild through our secondary made for sickening viewing.
TIgerPaw
I’m with you on the defense, but critism of those guys really needs to be held in check until we have an offense that can help to keep our defense off of the field.
We’ve been outgained on the season, and when you compare the time of possession stats and # of plays run you can really tell that part of our defense’s problem is really due to a poor offense.
Thank you
It is interesting to see how fans of the opposing team see the game. I’m an Ole Miss fan, and although the focus on the last 1+minute is understandable, I really thought LSU lost the game on our 8+minute last possession. In fact, all day we moved the ball pretty consistently on the LSU defense (but failed in the red zone or had to kick for 3): we outgained you 193-40 and Shay Hodge was open all night and particularly on important 3rd downs. Your special team plays were incredible, but from my perspective, the game shouldn’t have been close enough for that to matter. I’m not trying to be a troll, just sharing the perspective (at least mine) from the other side.
Your assessment is pretty accurate.
Today I saw the rushing yardage and couldn’t believe it; I thought I must have had much more to drink before the game than I had originally thought. Essentially, we were handed a magic bullet at the end of the game, and for some reason just fired the gun up into the air.
Our defense’s play in the red zone was OK for a while (holding on for the FG’s was noteworthy), but I was really surprised at Peterson’s slip-up on Dex’s TD pass. If he hadn’t bitten on that, maybe we hold for a FG again, but maybe not. Y’all were moving the ball well.
I will say that I was treated very well by all OM fans I came across.
The whole gameplan yesterday
was complete and utter crap. From the first snap that I heard on the radio yesterday until the final second ticked off of the clock yesterday, I did not know what to think. The play calling on the offense, left me wondering, ‘who is running this fiasco?’ The befuddled look on Miles’ face at the end of the game was the final straw for me. I’ll continue to support these guys who leave it on the field, but I am DONE with giving this coaching staff the benefit of the doubt any longer.
The fact that the Tigers made it interesting at the end shows that, despite the mismanaging the game, talent put us in a position to win the game. I’m still wondering what the sideline was thinking while almost 20 seconds ticked off of the clock before calling that final timeout. I am disgusted and embarrassed today. It will not, however, prevent me from sporting my colors, but man the crap I’m going to have to put up with next weekend when I go to Florida is depressing me.
Anyway, hopefully we can show some heart next weekend and pull out a win. Geaux Tigers. Thanks for letting me vent today.

The Hat
Now you know why OSU fans call him “The Hat”. Not much under it???
WHAT WE CAN SAY IS
We can say…Saban’s players are gone…Miles recruited these guys…Miles hired new staff and Miles runs the staff…what an offense the past 2 years…over half the time they seem to play at half their potential…many penalties on offense for motion or too much time…no excuse after 1st 2 games for that…
the last Bowl was a very high point. Defense is carrying way too much of the load again this year.
The fans expect a HUGE positive change for the rest of the short season plus Bowl…it better be huge or the OC is gone whether Miles backs him or not…
sort of reminds me of DiNardo who had an offense that led the SEC in ppg and was last in defense…no changes week after week…so both got the boot…I think J. Lee has not progressed at all since last year…he is working against Miles and OC also. You get Top 3 caliber classes 2 years in a row and this is the best you can run an offense?
Does anyone in Louisiana think Saban, Spurrier, Myer, etc would have run that offense the way Miles did the last half? Get serious. Miles has 8 quarters to erase this stain…and he better.
