That was quick. This means that the powers that be have been arranging for McCarthy to step down for some time now. They already had the replacement ready to go.
Absolutely terrific hire. Tolbert was seen as a big time recruiter, so he went to the NFL to work on his coaching bona fides. LSU reaps the benefits of the work he has put in to improve his skills. We now have another recruiting ace who is also a good coach with not only NFL experience, but success coaching in the NFL.

so hopefully he’ll be here a while. Not that we needed to stay in the family, but it’s nice to get a quality coach who also has ties to the school.
