Now the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Florida WR coach Billy Gonzales has been hired by LSU as WR coach/passing game co-ordinator.* Seeing as it was already reported that Tolbert got the WR coach gig, things are a bit confusing right now. So it looks like I jumped the gun a bit. Who knows what the coaching situation is?

*Yeah, I have no idea what that is either

Passing game coordinator is just a title

Scout and Rivals are confirming this. Todd Monken had the same title a few years ago. Really just an administrative situation, kind of like recruiting coordinator.

Doesn’t mean he’s a co-coordinator like in the Malveto sense.

Excellent hire, especially if Tyke Tolbert fell through.

Sounds like a good hire.

Has experience running the spread offense that we call ourselves trying to emulate. Would have been nice to have Tolbert unless there is something I’m missing (hopefully), and even nicer to have them both; perhaps everyone’s favorite coordinator is on the way out? This year or the next if he doesn’t get his act together(?).

Here's a theory..

Billy Gonzales = Passing game coordinator; possible OC.

Tyke Tolbert = WR coach

Brick Haley takes on the duty of OL coach along with him already being the DL coach.

This also keeps us within the NCAA coaching limit.

Sonny Shipp

Has reported that Tolbert fell through…either due to money or his ability to hit the ground running here. He only needs 2 more years to get in the NFL assistants pension plan, so he may want another NFL job.

I kind of figured that much..

but was still hoping for the best. It’s hard to pull assistants from the NFL to be assistants.

maybe les

is trying to replace bobby bowden in terms of having the staff with most mind numbing titles. before bobby left they had 4 people with the phrase “head coach” in their title.
