Wilson's an ex-New Orleans high school coach, with a reputation as a recruiter. Could be a natural replacement for Larry Porter.

But his rep is as a recruiter, which it seems is all LSU is looking for at the moment. If he takes the job. Just hope this isn’t an Orgeron situation again.

It would be a move up if he was given recruiting coordinator or assistant head coach, and definitely a salary bump — but UT can match the 2nd part of that equation.
But I have my reservations. Just wonder if there will be word soon, or will this sit…
If he's really good
I can’t see Kiffen letting him leave without a fight. The question is how high UT is willing to go to keep him.

This part could be big
Saying that Wilson got the commitment from “one of the top 2011 prospects in Louisiana: defensive lineman Anthony Johnson from O. Perry Walker High School, who is related to Wilson.”
Of course, you don’t hire staff members to get one recruit (at least not in football) but it would definitely be a nice bonus.
In this case, we would be hiring a staffer to get LOTS of good recruits..
Wilson’s a legend in New Orleans area schools. Frankly, knowing his history makes him a little bit perplexing. The first part of his career, I would say he appeared to be more on a career trajectory of entering politics than entering college football coaching.
Very charismatic guy. Has a reputation for being a little on the cutthroat side as far as recruiting goes. I think Porter HATED him, in part because of Joe McKnight things, so Porter leaving is a good time to go hire him.

I hate recruiting
It’s a dirty business, but it sounds like Wilson is one of those guys who lives to recruit. Every program needs guys like that. Hold your nose and make the hire.
Oh, and Kiffin steals Janzen, we steal Wilson. Sounds fair.

The Randle/Benton, Trent Richardson and Jackson situations sealed it for me.
I really think it’s ruining college football fandom.

Haha I love all these little drama stories that come out about coaches and stuff, things that you don’t think about most of the time.
