Mainieri named Coach of Year
The title here is pretty self-explanatory. It's hard to argue with results, and when you consider this was a pretty bad team just a couple years ago, it shows just how good a job Paul Mainieri has done (even though I will continue to criticize bunting, but at least he does it a lot less than many coaches).

Past winners
Looking at the list of winners, it seems it almost always goes to the national title winning coach. Which makes a certain amount of sense. I think O’Connor deserved some consideration for what he did at UVa this season, but this really was the purple and gold year.
