LSU Can Hoop, Too

I made my daily visit over to LSUsports.net today to see some great news for the Basketball team. While the 2009-10 schedule hasn't been released yet, a portion of the Tigers non-conference slate was announced today. In mid-November, LSU will host the first two rounds of the preseason NIT with Indiana State, Western Kentucky, Milwaukee (formerly UW-. and Western Kentucky.

The great part is with two wins, the Tigers would advance to the final four at Madison Square Garden, presumably with other hosts Duke, UConn and Arizona State. A trip to New York and an ESPN match up with either the Blue Devils or Huskies, or possibly both, should be a huge boost to LSU's national perception and help recruiting a great deal. This is a great day for Trent Johnson and the men's basketball program!

I'm excited!

As an LSU fan in NYC, this might be one of the only chances I get to see these guys play in quite a while. Congrats to LSU’s athletic department for making this happen!
