Life without TigerDroppings
I, a blogger under the name Jrlz, will from this point forward avoid visiting the popular LSU-themed message board TigerDroppings.
Why? Because it sucks, and the time I spend browsing Tiger Droppings will be better spent doing other things. I will let the ranters rant, and I won't have to feel any of the pointless drama that goes on there.
I stopped posting at TD a long time ago. Now I'm going to stop going there altogether. I know it won't be easy. I still type in "tigerdroppings.com" in my browser without thinking, and I'm sure I will do the same until I quit the habit, but if I accidentally do, I'm hitting the back button like I already do if I see the name of Glenn Guilbeau.

Thick skin...
…is what you need over there. It’s mostly just young kids now with not too much knowledge and nothing nice to say.
I come here for better content and to actually learn something about football that I
most likely didn’t know.
Two States!
I’m the only one here on good terms with TD.com, it seems. And I don’t want this to turn into a referendum on their site. If we were to go to the mattresses, TD would crush us. They are the 800 pound gorilla of LSU fansites.
But I like TD.com for what it is, a place where you can really get the pulse of the LSU fanbase (full disclosure: I’m an Admin over there). I like that it is pretty free form over there, and that while there are boundaries, the general vibe is to let stuff slide.
It makes me a little sad that our two sites have such poor relations, but hey, what ya gonna do? TD certainly doesn’t need our endorsement, and we cater to a different sort of fan (there is no such thing as an ATVSard and I wouldn’t be comfortable posting, say, my study on homefield advantage there). I think the internet is richer for having both sites.

I agree..
I’ve had my disagreements with TD.com, but I have no desire to pick a public fight with them. I just don’t post there anymore. I wouldn’t fit in these days even if I was in good standing with them.
I don’t begrudge Mr. Chicken his success. He set up a business model and it attracted a big, unruly crowd. Did he plan that? I doubt it, but I also don’t think he’s upset about how things have turned out. And good for him. He’s one of the few people out there who has managed to build a profitable enterprise about college football without having to build on a bigger, more profitable franchise.
And hey, I still go there at times, just to see what people are talking about.

I hate to be one of these "things were better in my day" guys, but...
There’s no doubt that td.com has changed a lot since ’03 and ’04. I suspect this is at least partly because in 2003 being internet savvy still suggested that the user had some college education. But that is obviously no longer true.
Really td.com’s biggest problem is its own popularity. There’s so many posters that posts simply fly off the front page, and as a result people start new threads that are exactly the same as threads started 12 hours earlier. So the same arguments get rehashed over and over again.

pick a side, Poseur
You’re either with us or against us. There is no turning back.
j/k. I said “Tigerdroppings sucks” because I’m an asshole, but it really was wasting a lot of my time, and I realized i needed to stop reading it just like I quit posting on it.
He's with US and with THEM..
It’s OK.

Tigerdroppings is AWFUL...
the Lair is the most esteemed LSU site on the web, imho. Been around as long as anyone and usually very informative and cordial.
No offense to the new guy but
This seems kind of petty. I consider ATVS to be a more high class counterweight to td.com.

Agree
I have to say that I agree that TD.com has gone through a major transition. I’ve learned who to read and who to skip over. But for real content I find this site much more informative.
I go to TD everyday.
If there is breaking news, it will be posted on that site before anywhere else. But that is all it is good for really. Breaking news. For opinions I come here.
As somebody
who once actually got stalked via a message board wonk, I avoid TigerDroppings outside of entertainment value. I’m not sure who are worse, the true ranttards or the pseudo-intellectuals who try to look down their noses at everybody else but really have no clue what they’re talking about.
