Tell Us About Yourself And Learn to Use Our Website
Our traffic has picked up quite a lot in the last couple months. The month of August will be the most successful month ever for And The Valley Shook in terms of traffic, and I expect things to keep on growing. We want to welcome everyone who has recently joined us. For those of you who are new, I would greatly appreciate it if you would respond to this post and introduce yourself. Tell us as much or as little about yourself as you like, and be sure to tell us what makes us so great. If you haven't "joined" yet, you will need to in order to do that, and I would highly suggest it. I promise you will receive no spam from me for signing up.
In addition to being able to comment and join the community we have here, you will also be able to post stories to the board on the right-hand side of the screen by clicking on "Create New FanPost". Then you just write to your heart's content. If you see a link or a picture or a YouTube you want to share with the group, you can use the "Create New FanShot" feature. You can also add the "Share on SBNation" auto-poster to your bookmark bar. The auto-poster bar can be found at the top of the page here. This will make it trivially easy for you to post additional FanShots when you see something you think the rest of the group would find interesting. Just drag the icon to your Bookmark bar, and then click on it whenever you see an article you think would be of particular interest to the readers. The rest should be obvious.
Any FanPost or FanShot you post may get promoted to the main board if it's good and if an editor sees it in time for it to matter, but even if we don't, it will be up for quite a while for anyone to read.
Plus, once you join And The Valley Shook, it will be a two-click process to join any other blog on the SBNation network.
If you are new to the site, or if you have recently become a regular, please make yourself known. We would like to see who all we have coming in these days.

Greetings Richard
I am a third generation haberdasher that started following LSU athletics between measuring dudes inseems. I have thoroughly enjoyed your website and would like to formally make amends with Jrlz by offering to do anytype of needlework he may require free of charge. The guy is a solid addition to already formidable team of young aspiring sports journalists. Keep up the superfluous work.
Jrlz is currently sitting in a cage in my house scraping a tin cup along the bars..
I keep yelling, “DO SOMETHING FUNNY!” at him, but so far nothing’s happened.

He needs to post more
In my opinion based on extremely limited knowledge of posting humor oriented material on LSU Sports sites, I would encourage J to post more. The things people enjoy the most have a tendency to be the things you post in passing moreso than pre fabricated bits. Again that information is IMELKOPHOMOLSS.
ATVS..The Best!
This grandmother (LSU grad, 1968) looks forward to checking your site at least twice a day for accurate information about her Tigers…the feature on the Class of 2009 was outstanding, Richard!
The maturity and intelligence of the writing keeps me your number one fan!
Keep up the good work, and, of course, Geaux Tigers!
Glad you liked Class of 2009..
Personally, I’m glad it’s over. That was a lot of repetitive work for me, but I’m happy it was liked.

I post on here regularly...
often as I slack off at work.
I was a grad student at LSU. Now I’m teaching at a college in the St. Louis area. I prefer the level of discourse and analysis here to other outlets (which I won’t name, but I’m sure you have an idea of the places I mean). I especially appreciate the quantitative emphasis.
Gregatron is not responsible for any of the crap he just wrote.

Came for the QB efficiency posts, stayed for solid SEC analysis that doesn’t fawn over Tebow in every single post.
You must have just overlooked those posts..
we fawn over him too, just not as often because we’re an LSU blog.

Been reading for a while
and I comment during games irregularly. I’m from Shreveport. BTW, my wife and I just moved to the Washington, D.C. area. Anyone know of any good places around here to catch games with other fans?

Used to live near DC...
… but I hate watching games in public. Not enough freedom to pace and worry. But you could always drop by my mom’s house. She makes a delicious shrimp creole and when she gets her husband to fall asleep in the third quarter, LSU always scores a touchdown. It’s kind of amazing.
But there is an active LSU alumni chapter in DC who holds lots of watch parties. Look ‘em up on google – I don’t remember their web address.

What's a blog?
That’s was what I asked my daughter last year when she told me I should pick out a couple of sports “blogs” to follow during football season. I enrolled in LSU as a Sophomore in fall of ‘64. I got the boot (grades) in ’67. Who knew you actually had to go class. I never got around to going back and wound up graduating elsewhere. That school, FAU, did not field their first football team until 2001, so the Tigers have been and still are #1 with me. I worked for IBM for 25 years, retired in ’97, went back for 2 more years, incorporated and worked for them another 10 years. Currently retired and Lovin’ Life. I live in N. Georgia and go to see the Tigers whenever they play in Atlanta, i.e the SEC Championship and the Peach Bowl aka the Chic Fil A Bowl.
What I like.....
I’m an alum who lives out of state and looks for good information on my beloved Tigers wherever I can get it.
The content here is usually thoughtful and interesting, and the membership seems mature. As the popularity of the site grows, I think it will be interesting to see if you can hold on to that identity.
I really like the sabermetric-like analysis you do on different aspects of the game/team.
Keep up the great work.
We used to laugh at Grandpa when he'd head off and go fishing. But we
wouldn't be laughing that evening when he'd come back with some whore he
picked up in town.
Tiger since birth.
My dad and his 5 siblings lived near the south gates of campus and all went to LSU. I grew up in Houma, the oldest of three girls and the only one who is a sports fan and LSU alumnus – needless to say I am also the favorite. I moved to NY 4 years ago for grad school and married another LSU fan (who incidentally lived in Bham for 3 years before that). Living out of Louisiana, it is nice to read a little about my Tigers every morning.

Graduated LSU in 2004
and it seems unlike most people here I still live in Baton Rouge. I started reading your site back when it was GeauxTuscaloosa but I just don’t comment much. Its definitely my favorite LSU site.
I'm not a LSU grad...but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.
I’m somewhat of an implant to the Baton Rouge area. I grew up in Minden, La. (4 hours north) and moved down here fresh out of college in 2003 looking for a job. While down here, I managed to fall in love with two things…my wife & LSU.
The only problem is my wife and her father are both Ole Miss grads. Sadly I have a split household just like Mr. Pittman. My poor daughter will be confused as well.
Anyhoo, I love this site. I visit it daily, but I rarely have time to post. Keep up the good work guys!! Man cannot live on Dandy Don alone!!
Dud has spoken.
Baton Rouge local
Went to law school at LSU. Never left.
Y’all got a pretty good site. Not into ridiculously evaluating the Tigers. I’d rather analyze the strengths and the weaknesses of the team as you guys seem to do here.
Longtime reader, first time commenter
I have been reading AndTheValleyShook ever since I randomly stumbled across the site in 2007. I grew up a mile from Tiger Stadium going to LSU games during the Curley Hallman, Dinardo, & Saban eras. I actually graduated from UGA a few years ago, hints the name TigerDawg. I also went with TigerDawg to pay respect to all the hot dogs I put down in Tiger Stadium. I have been living in Washington DC for about 2 years and have enjoyed getting my daily LSU coverage from this here website. Richard and the crew do a nice job of writing well thought out pieces that provide insight on the team.

Read ATVS since you moved here from Geaux Tuscaloosa.
Graduated from LSU in May 2005. Born in Houma, lived in Baton Rouge most of my life and moved to Huntsville, AL for a job after graduation. It seems there are a lot of us on this site who reside in bama country now. Zandor, Purple Reign, and Pitt off the top of my head.
I’m married to an Auburn fan, and have lot’s of bammer and barner buddies up here, so I like to peruse the enemy’s sites as well.
Hey!
I’m also from Houma and graduated in 2005 from LSU…small world.

I am not Victoria...
…I was trying to reply to Monkey Poop Battle, but as Richard could probaby tell you guys, I am computer illiterate. I am in fact Richard’s older brother, Daniel. I read ATVS everyday. LSU grad 1994.

Thanks Daniel. I wasn’t sure if anyone would get my joke. Seeing it written down instead of hearing Jason Alexander’s voice makes it actually seem sincere.

I love when George rips on Steinbrenner for the trades that he made and Steinbrenner hires him on the spot. “Hire that man.”

As for me,
I am a recent LSU grad (2007) currently living in NYC. I’m very happy with the new SEC-ESPN deal as it almost guarantees I will be able to see every single LSU game, even when they play against powerhouses such as Moler’s Beauty College, New Orleans YMCA, Lake Charles High School, Natchez Athletic Club, or LSU Alumni. (Bonus points for anyone who can figure out what names on this list LSU has actually played before)
Been a long time reader of the site, and I appreciate the intelligent commentary on all things LSU.
by TheBobLoblawBlog on Aug 26, 2009 3:47 PM CDT reply actions
I know the basketball team played a YMCA team a long time ago.
I’m gonna guess Natchez Athletic Club.
by Gas_House_Gorillas on Aug 26, 2009 6:41 PM CDT up reply actions
That is one.
Actually, LSU has played every team on this list except for Moler’s Beauty College.

Going to any of the NYC alumni view-ins this year?
We usually hit about half the games and have a good time.

Where can I get more info on these?
by TheBobLoblawBlog on Aug 27, 2009 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions
Here you go:
There is usually some deal…$15-20 all the beer you can drink during game time. You can also sign up for there email list.

Ha ha
I have actually heard about this group, though. About a year ago I was walking around wearing my LSU t-shirt. Three times people stopped me to ask where the boil was. I would have gone, but already had plans.

Love the site
Raised in N. La. and went to grad school at LSU. Now, I’m stuck in Kentucky. Fortunately, I’ve found a core group of LSU grads and S. La. folks to watch games with. I have the misfortune of living in Big Ten(11) country and don’t get to watch as much SEC football as I would like, so I am pumped about the new ESPN deal.
I stumble across the site about 6 months ago and was instantly hooked…Great analysis from real fans. And I like the balance of the stories in that the good gets told with the bad.
