I don't see us as winning. There's more to it than what's on the scoreboard.

I really want to see some improvement from the O-Line this half
If we can’t start running the ball, it’s going to put a lot of pressure on our sophomore QB.
I think we come out trying to pound it this half

I would be happy with some triple option from the I
Chuck Scott and Keiland in the back field. Chuck up the gut and JJ and Keiland running the outside option. Make State make some decisions in the box.
Pounding it isn't working
What is working is lining up four wide and running QB sweeps and options

they said we have 7 yards rushing..
but from my calculations, we have 36.. most from Russell Shepard

Even with the mistakes, and there have been more than a few,
still think we are winning according to the scoreboard. We now have to win on the field, and a great part of that is establishing the run game. Need to spread it out a bit, allow Trindon to string it out, pound with Scott and use Shepard even more. The O-Line has got to step it up.

I think our D has the potential to be something truly special
Still some growing pains, but man, are we talented. If they continue to gel — IF — they’re going to give teams like UF and Bama all they can handle.
D has played very well in every game except the 1st
Father. Husband. Lawyer. Nerd.
by Richard Pittman on Sep 26, 2009 1:34 PM CDT up reply actions
Bama
I know I keep saying it, but they really scare me. Even more than UF right now. I think our offense is being built to attack Florida, but we play right into Bama’s strengths. I just think they are better than we are.
Fake Pundit. Real Fan.
http://www.andthevalleyshook.com
Me too.
That D is nasty.
That said, we don’t have the running game to keep Florida off the field either right now.
It's the D line I'm most worried about
If Dickson can rip off mid-range runs consistently, Bama will have a field day on us.
It’s our lines. Those are our biggest weaknesses, apparently.

On the positive side,
If we win a tough-fought 60 minute dogfight, we’ll be that much more battle tested for the tough games to come. UGA and UF have had their dogfights, here is ours. We saw Thurs nite with Ole Miss what happens when a team hasn’t had to slug out a win.

After all that...
MSU goes down with a whimper. Except for that last play, the final series was inept.
The LSU defense dedicates goal line stand to Wayne Madkin, who also, didn’t get into the end zone.
The thing is, except for our running game and the bad snaps/holds on special teams, I can't pinpoint where we went wrong

Yeah. Our passing game looked a lot improved
Especially our O-line blocking. But we’re not mature enough passers to be able to live on it without the run. Unfortunately we’ll need to grow in passing to free up the lanes. Perhaps next week?

And we aren’t opening holes for our RB’s — 31 yards rushing on 31 attempts. Ouch.

I remember watching the goal line stand at Tiger Stadium against UL
It’s a good thing they had that recent experience against a weaker team because it really came in handy this week. The win is good, but this wasn’t a pretty win.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
GAME STATS:
LSU / MSU
1st Downs 12 21
3rd down efficiency 2-13(!) 8-19
4th down efficiency 0-2 0-4
Total Yards 264 374
Passing 233 223
Comp-Att 15-28 17-40
Yards per pass 8.3 5.6
Rushing 31(!) 151
Rushing Attempts 31 46
Yards per rush 1.0(!) 3.3
Penalties 8-65(!) 2-10
Turnovers 0 4
Fumbles lost 0 1
Interceptions thrown 0 3
Possession 26:11 33:49
They got more first downs than us
That’s not the best way to win, but you see it in sports all the time. In baseball, it’s like winning a game despite being out hit by a large margin.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
You’d think a team that wins the turnover battle 4-0 would dominate time of possession, but not in this crazy game. MSU ran 25 more plays than we did, yet our defense still had what it took to stop them twice at the goal line.
We have got to establish the run to retain possession.
You honestly can't keep winning games like this
This was a game that still could have gone either way despite how many plays MSU ran. It’s worse to lose a game the way MSU did than to win a game like LSU did today. The recent Monday Night Football game is a good example of how you can dominate time of possession and still lose a game.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
And lest we forget,
MSU outscored our offense 24-20!
Yipes.
NOT a good sign with UGA, UF and Auburn on deck.
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it
There’s a good reason you have to play the game. This doesn’t bode well, but after the road game against UGA, we get the other two teams at Tiger Stadium. LSU has managed to get two good road wins, one of them being on the West Coast against the team that beat USC. Let’s worry about UGA when that time comes. Right now, we can take a deep breath and be glad we came away with a hard fought road victory.
And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
Well, that time has come.
In a couple hours we’ll be over it. In a couple hours, the team has to get over it and begin prepping for UGA. Classes can wait until the bye week, or next semester. They’re not important.
Not really.. their special teams got their 1st touchdown when they got the ball inside the 1
