If I leave the Georgia game thinking anywhere near the line of “if we can play that well the rest of the season..” than there’s no way we don’t come out of that game with a W.
Georgia simply isn’t that good.
Disagree
This would be a very losable game for anybody.

There's more to it...
First post, gotta get the obligatory props out there. Love the blog, hate that only 1/3 of the posts are formatted to my cell and I can’t check it when I’m at work (I’m hooked on my tigers, even out here on the left coast).
Anyway, I think there’s more to this question. To me, it depends on how the season shakes out. If we win ugly Saturday then lose the next five games I’ll be upset. But if we win ugly between the hedges and then win ugly all year I’ll be happy as a clam. If we lose but look good then I feel like it’ll cure a lot of the woes and we’ll have a much better chance as we run the rest of the SEC gauntlet. But if we lose looking great and keep losing looking great that won’t make me any happier. I guess I’m just happy with wins, and as long as they keep coming I’ll be happy.
I’ve stayed out of the recent discussion regarding what we as fans should expect and what constitutes a good season. I’ve enjoyed every second of the recent wins but no matter how well the Tigers play I’m always worried about the next game coming up. Hell, I’m even worried about the next season without our current seniors but I don’t let it take away from the games. The only problem is as good as 4-0 feels, 4-8 or 8-4 don’t feel as good. Bear in mind, Vegas pegged us at 8.5 wins this year, so anything more than that and we’re beating expectations, #9/#11 preseason ranking not withstanding. I want to keep enjoying the wins, I just don’t want to get too caught up in being one of the 6 undefeated teams left and be let way down if the season spirals.
I agree with TigerPaw that if the Tigers play where I think they can (and should) then we shouldn’t lose unless Georgia has saved their best stuff for this game. I just hope we have too.
As with every game, I’m apprehensive and excited. I finally have this Saturday off from work so I can watch the game live. Geaux Tigers, and keep it up ATVS crew. Oh, and make the site work on my phone! I hate having to sidescroll.
What do we need to do to make it format better?

no brainer
One choice involves LSU winning. The other involves LSU losing.
Tiger fans, even the drunk and comatose, don’t have to think about that one.
Not The Issue Billy
Look, everybody wants to win first and foremost… pretty or ugly…that is a given.
But when you are playing lower tier competition you do not expect to be struggling 4 games into the season. You do expect to see a rational approach to bringing along inexperienced players. You expect to see plays called that show some relationship to the game situation and what has and has not worked previously. We are not seeing that. Heck, we aren’t even good at getting the best 11 on the field.
Having been a tiger fan for 40 years or so I’ve observed that if you are having this antsy, unsettled feeling in your gut 4 games into the season, there is a reason for it… and it ain’t good.
Actually that sounds like exactly the issue
Would you rather win and still see the same problems as before, or lose, but see those problems improve?
Both of those scenarios are highly plausible.
Win first,
then work out the kinks and play better the next week. Like we’re doing now — right, right? I have a feeling they’re going to show some real improvement against Georgia. Then again, I thought that going into last week’s game against Miss St.
There is a huge difference between winning ugly vs. UGA...
And winning ugly against Vandy, ULL, and State.
When you win ugly against a top 25 team it is understandable. When you win ugly against door mats, it isn’t.
no such thing as an ugly win over a team like georgia..
any win is pretty. That’s the difference between Georgia and Mississippi State and Vandy.

If we commit 4 turnovers and have a controversial call go our way that directly impacts the end of the game and we win
I’d call that ugly. But I get your point. I think we are still saying the same thing.
I agree
But I want to see what the people say. Somehow, I imagine we’re going to see complaining no matter what.
Second
Miss State’s first score came after a third down PI call that was second only to the goal line call v Auburn a few years back from being the worst call in SEC history. that gives them 7 instead of 3.
Then we have a sloppy field/sloppy wet ball over the punters head, should have been kicked for a safety or frankly just punted away, that gives them 7 instead of 2 or zero.
Then they had two third down plays where we basically had the QB basically sacked, he threw the ball up and got EXTREMELY LUCKY that one was a touchdown and the other led to a score.
This game could and should have been a blow out but to act like the stinking world is ending because we are not having beauty pageant wins on sloppy soaked fields when we gotten some bad bounces in the middle of rainstorms is just, well, STUPID!
Bottom line, sometimes you have to just win, baby! http://louisianastategameday.com/lsu-football-news/just-win-baby-monster-goal-line-stand-helps-tigers-remain-unbeaten/

The PI call was legit
Alem tackled Lee in the end zone before the ball got there. When I saw the play live I thought it was a bad call, but the replay clearly shows Alem hitting Lee before the ball hits Alem in the back.
CHAD JONES! WOOOO!!!!
It was PI
but it was also one heck of a play by Alem. Everyone else was fooled on the play, he recognized a trick play was coming, and took off full speed after the quarterback.
No doubt about that
I wasn’t criticizing him. I don’t imagine the quarterback was his responsibility on that play. It was impressive how fast he got back when he recognized what was going on.
CHAD JONES! WOOOO!!!!
It was really
The best play Alem could have probably made in that situation. It would take a Julius Peppers-type athlete to spin around and play the ball — knocking the guy down and taking the penalty beats giving up the touchdown.
