GIANT slap in the face ESPN

ESPN U just released a poll for the most dominant teams of the decade. There is a voting with ten possible teams, and you have to rank at least five. Amazingly, out of the ten teams that won the national title LSU 2003 and LSU 2007 are conspicuously missing, and instead, they have Auburn 2004. At least they don't list USC 2003, but seriously?

Out of ten teams, not to even have LSU as a choice is ridiculous. Go F*** yourselves ESPN

Yeah...

You’re kind of well known on this blog, so I figured I would have to distinguish myself somehow. At least we spell it differently. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, but I live in Denver now.

It is not new

For LSU to get disrespected by the National Press.

on the other hand, if you are looking for a single season of sheer dominance we never really had one.

2007 could have been that but the later season 3OT losses kind of disqualifies us.

2003, the team became dominate towards the end of the year but wasn’t just beating the heck out of people early.

For the decade we have to be considered in a two way race with Florida at the top but that’s for the whole decade.

As for Auburn 2004, the only close game they played in, from my recolection, was against us (the defending NCs) so yea, I’d say they deserve to be there and I still beleive they would have beaten USC had they been there, but that’s just me.

Ambivalent

On the one hand, who cares what ESPN says? We won two crystal balls last decade, and Florida is the only other school that can say that. Championships stand forever. We don’t have to win some mythical tournament to legitamize our titles.

On the other hand, the ‘03 team is criminally underrated. I’ll put the ‘03 team up against anyone, even with the loss. I sincerely believe that is one of the ten best defenses in college football history, coupled with an offense that was top 20 in scoring. In that mythical tourney, ’03 LSU would certainly hold their own. The only team I think is clearly better is ’01 Miami… which ESPN didn’t rank #1 for some bizarre reason.
