LSU's Drive Engineering Stats
The table after the jump contains the drive engineering stats for LSU in 2010 for all seven games played. Six of LSU's drives have used multiple QBs and are specified by the QB who started the drive. The numbers for plays and yards come from the drive charts in the official gamesheets and don't necessarily reflect total yards or plays.
| Quarterback | Drives Started | Ended By: TD | FG | FGA | PNT | DWN | TRN | SAF | CLK | RPL | PTS YIELD | PTS/DRIVE | Drive Eff. S | Drive Eff. P | Plays | Yards | Avg Yds/Play |
| Jordan Jefferson | 60 | 9 | 12 | 13 | 24 | 0 | 12 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 99 | 1.65 | 35 | 36.7 | 320 | 1416 | 4.43 |

Key for chart: PNT: punt, TRN: turnover, SAF: safety, CLK: clock, RPL: replay, Drive Eff. S: Percentage of drives scored on, Drive Eff. P: Percentage of drives in scoring position (actual scores + field goal attempts-drives ended by the clock). Plays not included in total plays: fake punts/field goals, clocking the ball, kneel downs.

Good stuff.
Thanks for the post

No problem.
I do have the drive engineering stats for LSU’s opponents also. Brief overview: opponents are scoring 1.08 pts per drive, only scoring 17.2% of their drives and getting a scoring opportunity on 25% of their drives. LSU opponents get 4.05 yards per play.

Yes
As a team, LSU starts out at its own 40 yard line. Jefferson drives start at the LSU 41; Lee drives start at the LSU 39; Lee/Jefferson drives start at the LSU 42 and Jefferson/Lee drives start at the LSU 28.

great work
really interesting stuff. Two questions. Is there anyway to tell how many of the drives that were ended by turnovers were TOs caused by the QB – both interceptions and fumbles? And is there anyway to tell how many drives that ended on a punt had a 3rd down penalty caused by the QB which led to the punt?
Sure
Jefferson has 7 INTs and 1 fumble lost this year. That’s 8 drives out of 60, or 13.3% of his drives. Lee has 1 INT, so 1 drive out of 16, or 6.3% of his drives. As to the second question, there’s nothing that qualifies. The closest thing was this: Jefferson was called for intentional grounding in the UNC game on a 3rd & 12 from the UNC 26. He lost 21 yards on the play but the penalty wasn’t the real cause for that as it is marked from the spot of the foul. LSU obviously had to punt and UNC got credit for a sack. Lee’s intentional grounding against Tennessee was on a first down. That drive ended with a punt. Lee’s illegal forward pass against Tennessee was on 3rd down but wouldn’t have picked up enough yardage to convert anyway.
