Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

People are lining up to KNEEL! BEFORE! ZOD!

Patrick Peterson is racking up the hardware this week. SEC Coaches Defensive Player of the Year. SEC Coaches Special Teams Player of the Year. Jim Thorpe Award (best defensive back). Chuck Bednarik Award (most outstanding defensive player).

Next year there will be a Patrick Peterson Award, but no one will qualify.

According to lsusports.net Peterson said “One of my goals at the beginning of the season was to win this award and be the best I could possibly be." http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=205052998

I guess they forgot to mention that he's a bad ass. He is.

PP award

The dude deserves an award with his name. But the only person I can see winning is Patrick Peterson Jr.

Great idea.

Awards are named after legends. And since legends are, well, legends, no one can ever trully match the facts and myths associated with the legend. (As someone else in another post pointed out, there aren’t many 6-2 220 CBs out there with PP’s skills.) However, the award can be given to players who most exemplify the standards set by the legend. For the PP award, for which I nominate the name “the Kneel Before Zod Award,” it seems that the ability to shut down an entire section of the field for an entire season would be the base requirement.

This award could potentially go to any defensive or even special teams player. They just have to dominate their assigned area to the extent that opposing teams won’t risk going their direction.
We might not have such a player every year, which will make the award even more special because it will only be given out in years when there is that special player who earns it.

Like it

like the idea of the “dominate their assigned area” and there could possibly be an award for the defensive player that should have won the heisman
