"In this case, the agent used a player to get other players to come somewhere where the agents could meet them."
Alabama Coach Nick Saban was on the Finebaum radio show after his stint at the podium during SEC Media Days and offered this little gem.
Suddenly the "pimp" comment and a lot of other pieces make a lot more sense. As OTS puts it " it would rationally lead one to conclude that the agent in question had Marvin Austin use his friendship with certain players, including Marcell Dareus, to get these guys come to South Beach."
At this point, it's all still speculation but, if proven true, there gonna be a lot of Alabama fans pulling exceedingly hard for you guys in the season opener.

Sorry
Not buying that Marcell Dareus (or any other player involved in this for that matter) just decided to fly down to Miami just because Marvin Austin “invited them to a party” without having SOME idea something was up.
and you never traveled to a party
that a friend of yours invited you to?

At his house here in town? Yes
In a completely different city a multi-hour flight away? No, not without some sort of explanation or plan of what exactly is going on.

I’ve been invited by a friend to come down to the beach… without much explanation or any kind of itinerary. Maybe like I did, he figured they’d be chilling in the sand, catching some waves, hanging out, sipping some drinks by the pool, and maybe finding some ladies to have a good time with. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

So
You just jumped on a plane with no explanation of where you were staying, what was going on, how any of this was getting paid for (when you are told by your coaches to be mindful of such things), or any of that?
Bull. Shit.

supposedly Austin made the arrangements, and Dareus paid him back when he got to Miami (and has a receipt, probably wrote him a check).
No, I don’t think your friend making arrangements for a spur of the moment vacation is all that extraordinary for kids.

you must be one of those people that always has to have everything planned out. I have a sister like that. Other people are more free spirited.

Really
I’m just assuming that Marcell Dareus just isn’t a gullible idiot that puts himself in these sort of situations.
But maybe I should ask him about this bridge I have for sale in Brooklyn…

For the record
I don’t expect him to be suspended, and if so, it won’t be longer than 2-4 games. And I think fans of every SEC program should avoid whistling past the graveyard on topic.
But I’m never gonna buy the “victim of circumstance” line.

Bama fans rooting for LSU
“What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!”

A little perspective: It is us or the Tar Heels...
didn’t you root for Bama in their openers the last two years against Va. Tech, and Clemson? I did and I hate Bama as much as the rest of you.
