In 1958, LSU's second game of the season was against a rejuvenated Alabama team led by Paul W. Bryant (it was The Bear's first game as The Crimson Tide's head coach).
Midway through the second quarter, Alabama's offense was inside the Tiger's 10-yard-line, threatening to score. LSU coach Paul Dietzel put in his third unit to stop the Tide and the legend of the Chinese Bandits was born.
You can read about this pivotal game in the history of both programs in my article over at the mothership.
EDIT: Frontpage'd. Kleph may be a traitor to the state that bore him, but this is still a great read
