Jarrett Lee is our top secret weapon

Okay so maybe its not top secret, but I can't help but believe that that is the reason we haven't seen more of Lee. I think Les had a feeling that Bama was going to win out and we would end up seeing them again and he needed Jefferson to get more confidence in his passing and because Lee's "downfall" was the Bama game he can now be our secret weapon or x-factor or whatever you want to call it. I truly believe that Lee will be the key to our winning our 14th and most important win. I believe in THE HAT!

I believe in THE HAT!

Do you still believe if JLee stands on the sideline and watches JJ play the entire game?

JJ is the starter, he has been the starter for 3.5 years and save the FALSE ARREST by an incompetent law enforcement agency due to the lies of a drunken stalker and his squeeze for the night JJ would have likely won the heisman this year.

JL was fabulous in his absence and did his job. he won an unsung HERO award from the team for his efforts and will earn his SECOND National Championship Ring as a Tiger. What a wonderful story he’s had and we should name a team perseverance award after him.

But JJ was voted by the team as offensive Captain and was picked by the coaches as the best QB on the roster before the season and right now so let’s not have all of the ‘maybe he’s saving JLee for a special assignment’ or ‘I can’t believe poor Lee got benched’ cry me a river stuff. This is big boy football and LSU does it well.

Believe the Hat and ENJOY his team, all of it!

I have no problem with JJ starting

and I have no problem with Miles’ decision, although I am slightly curious as to why Lee didn’t get more playing time on senior day, I am simply stating that I think Miles (the crafty genius he his) is saving Lee till the Championship game. It may not happen and we may lose (i doubt it) but that doesn’t mean that I don’t think its odd that even when JJ has struggled we never brought Lee in, even though they were rotating series when JJ returned. It’s just my thoughts and my weird opinion, I will support Miles no matter what.

Oh, but I am.

JJ was by ALL accounts having a GREAT off-season and there is no doubt in my mind that he would have put up big numbers early in the season, similar to JLee, with a lot of good rushing as well.

That being the case, and assuming LSU was plastering teams like we did anyway then I think JJ would have garnered a lot of National Spotlight and would very well have been in the discussion.

Look at the combined QB numbers and tell me that if a single starter on the undisputed, undefeated #1 team in the nation had those kind of numbers he wouldn’t have at least been sitting next to the Honey Badger in NYC…

JJ just passed for 30 yards in his last game.

Who says he would have been anywhere near as effective as Lee?

Georgia played the best defense for a half that ANYbody in the country has played all year.

Please don’t act like any other QB would have had different results. Our OLine couldn’t sustain a block and the RBs couldn’t find a ray of daylight to save their lives.

What was the outcome of that game again?

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

by SouthernMan on Dec 21, 2011 8:16 AM CST up reply actions

The outcome of that game was a result of a strong running game.

Besides, JJ can’t hold RG3 or Andrew Luck’s jockstrap.

Whatever dude.

Everything was great except that JJ guy…

“I love the Hat, except when I hate him.”

Jordan Jefferson is a battle tested, falsley arrested, true to his team, and leader in their eyes, purple and gold blooded Tiger. Why does it make you feel good to run him down?

I hated those who BOO’d JLee and I hate those who BOO JJ. Whether it’s in the stadium or on the internet.

Be a TIGER, not a hater!

I'm not trying to run him down.

I just don’t think there is any way Jefferson, or ANY qb under Miles, will put up Heisman-like numbers. It’s not that kind of high-flying offense, and Jefferson makes too many poor decisions.

by wadewilson on Dec 22, 2011 7:05 PM CST up reply actions

I can appreciate why you might feel that way but considering a run first offense if JJ had started all year

Based on what the QB position DID produce ‘under Miles’ this year one could speculate conservatively that JJ would have ended up with a stat line something like:

2500 Yards, 65% Completions, 25 TDs (4ish Ints), another 500ish yrds on the ground with 6/7 more TDs and a 13-0 record for the #1 team in the nation, that also produced another 2500 non QB yards on the ground, yea he would have been in the discussion.

And what poor decisions are you refering too? Just curious….

Two off the top of my head...

the intentional grounding safety against Western Kentucky and the int against Arky where he forced the ball.

by Zandor435 on Dec 24, 2011 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

His ONE interception all year and I don't even remember the grounding

but is that all you’ve got? Really?

So, in 144 offensive snaps Jefferson has positive results 78% of the time with a 150.9 passing efficiency, gains almost 1000 yrds in only 9 games (4 starts) and is responsible for 9 TDs.

But he throws 1 int all year and never loses a fumble; he is sacked 10 for a grand total of -57 yards and has what, two grounding penalties all year and this is evidence of bad decision making?

Two years ago when he held on too long you might have had an argument, last year when he threw some bad ints you could have had a point but this year, with a QB coach and no crowton mind-freaking going on and we had the two of the most dependable QBs in the country, JJ being one of them…

can't believe i am engaging in this discussion....

You can’t be serious. JJ is having his best season ever…but to call him a heisman candidate or much less say he would be “likely to win the heisman” except for his incident at the beginning of the year is crazy.

I hope we see JJ have his best game ever in New Orleans, but he is not in the same league w/ any of the heisman candidate qb’s. How can you look at the stats of guys like Keenum, Barlkey, Luck, RGIII, Weeden, and Ball and conclude that JJ is capable of what those guys have done?

Has JJ ever had a 300 yd plus game? What is his sack rate per attempt? He has 10 sacks through 83 attempts…the other guys listed all have 15 or less sacks through more than 373 attempts. That means:

JJ = 1 sack per 8.3 attempts.
Other guys = 1 sack per 24 attempts.

I understand you don’t want fans to be negative, but you are reaching to say the least when you make such far out statements.

by Zandor435 on Dec 25, 2011 11:42 AM CST up reply actions

"JJ is having his best season ever…"

Imagine if he had 13 starts instead of 4…

And again, I’m saying he’d be in the discussion, RGII deserved it and that probably would not have changed, IMO but it would have been nice to see him sitting next to the Honey Badger in NYC…

But let’s talk about your little stat that you threw out there.

First, I find it odd that JJ is the only QB in the country that the ‘sacks allowed’ counts against. Typically that is considered an OLine or total offense stat but we seem to think every sack, no matter what is clearly and convincingly JJ’s fault.

But you got your cheery picked stat in there, here’s mine.

Barkley also threw 1 int. per 63 attempts
Luck threw 1 per 41 attempts
Weeden threw 1 per 43 attempts
Moore threw 1 per 48
RGIII threw 1 per 61
Ball not a QB

JLee threw 1 per 55
JJ threw 1 per 83

Therefore, Heisman!!! Woo-whooo! (see how easy that is)

FWIW, there were a lot of supposed ‘experts’ that saw JJ in the off-season and said he was going to blow up and I’m not the only person, some who get paid to evaluate such things, who thought he might be a dark-horse Heisman candidate, then Shady’s went down and we’ll never really know what might have been.

I do think if JJ has a Cotton Bowl type performance and we beat Bama convincingly and then he does well in the combines he will surprise the ever-living heck out of his detractors and get himself drafted in the early rounds.

Given the right situation, he has the skills and physicality to be a solid NFL QB and I for one hope he has a long and highly decorated career.

If your serious ,you need to adjust your meds.

Had JJ started every game ,he would have had to double his avg.production in every game, to match Kellen Moore or RGIII.

by mnstar on Dec 23, 2011 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

Look at Richardson's 'production' compared to Monte Ball - Richardson was not even in the top five RBs

Its not all about the stats.

if JJ had started every game and had the kind of numbers I extrapolated from our teams production then yea, he would have been in the discussion.

And I missed it when Kellen Moore was introduced in NYC, was he sitting under the Honey Badger’s chair?

Consider this; Russell Wilson and Case Keenum had FAR better years, stat wise, than Andrew Luck, why was he there?

Luck’s YPA = 8.50
JJ’s YPA = 8.24

Luck was responsible for 35 TDs w/ 9 Ints and got sacked 9 times
LSU QBs were responsible for 24 TDs w/4 Ints and got sacked only 4 times while attempting 111 fewer passes.

Would JJ have won it, don’t know, probably not but it would have been nice to have him and the honey badger in the discussion, which I absolutely believe would have been the case, if not for shady’s.

(P.s. I’m taking anything away from JLee, he should have been getting more press than he did early but he was precieved as the back up so he was not going to get into the discussion…)

Senior Day happened to be a game that had the SEC West, the SEC and a National Title riding on it.

and yes it was a blow out but the package didn’t have a bow on it until late in the game so the back up just didn’t get to see a lot of action, it happens.

It happened again v Georgia and frankly, had it not been for the defense making a couple of plays early in the second half to turn the tide we might have seen JLee in the second half of the SECCG but it worked out and CLM did what the game dynamics called for.

Playing time should NEVER be about being ‘fair’, if the game is well in hand and there is an opportunity to get someone else in then great, if not, oh well.

Bottom line, JJ is going to lead us to a National Title. JL was HUGE in helping us get there.

Both of them will have a ring that they EARNED and deserve to be respected by all Tiger fans.

P.s. Not aiming any animosity at you at all, just tired of the JL v JJ debate that some of our fans can’t let go.

i have the same thought

The guy wasn’t totally to blame for the loss, but he stunk as much as anyone.

by Zandor435 on Jan 10, 2012 10:19 AM CST up reply actions

The offensive line was horrible, the running backs had no room to run, and the receivers were dropping balls

But if you want to be respected as an adult and a quarterback that believes he is capable of playing at the next level, you don’t blame everyone but yourself whenever a game doesn’t go well.

you are right

I don’t think Lee is much better if at all better than JJ. However, I do think that if JJ didn’t have the appearance of such a sour attitude, that people would give him more of a break. Despite Lee’s propensity to melt down, he earned a lot of people’s admiration and respect b/c he did what hundreds of other football players have done throughout the course of football history…he took his lumps and waited his chance. The kid seemingly had a great attitude through the entire year.

JJ on the other hand, grimaced and sulked after ever bad play.

and now…………………….is he on suicide watch?
