Tom Walter Deserves a Standing O
If you're not aware of the story, go check out the Wake Forest blog, but the short version is this: Coach Tom Walter gave one of his players a kidney. That is a simply amazing sacrifice for a coach, and we all applaud him as a human being.
We want to beat Wake Forest this weekend, but Paul Mainieiri has the right idea when the LSU Baseball twitter feed read:
Coach Mainieri just issued our fans a challenege for Friday: "To stand and give Tom Walter an ovation because of his tremendous sacrifice."
That shouldn't be much of a challenge. I'm sure Coach Walter didn't do it so he could get a standing ovation from 10,000 strangers, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't get one. This is a wonderful chance for us to applaud one of the good guys, even if he coaches the other team. Especially because he coaches the other team. Some things should be honored simply because it's the right thing to do.
Here's to Coach Tom Walter.

Certainly, let's give him a standing O, and them some.
Especially with what happened at Toomer’s recently. Let’s all show some respect, as Poseur said. I think I remember some of the games on Skip’s farewell tour, and everyone was giving him his kudos.
