Hey Tiger peeps. I'm taking a big road trip from Los Angeles to Dallas for a game you might have heard a little bit about. Something about the Ducks and Tigers playing each other. Top five teams, SEC and Pac12, national title contenders, Heisman trophy candidates, crazy coaches, neutral field. Mostly just ancillary information.
Anyway, I'm reaching out for a little tailgating help..
My brother, 5 friends, and I are leaving Los Angeles for Texas in an RV on August 28th. We have a lot planned to build up to the game, including:
-Blowing up propane tanks with shotguns somewhere in Arizona...
-A few nights of partying with coeds in Austin...
-High school football game outside of Dallas...
-Strip clubs within Dallas...
-Rodeos...
-Possibly some real bull riding (that should end well)...
-River rafting...
-And of course, the bootbaw game at Jerry World...
At this point, we're still looking into other activities to endanger, embarrass, and enthrall ourselves.
So the point of this post is to seek your advice and recommendations. We're going to be tailgating at the game, and obviously look forward to meeting up with some Duck fans (familiar faces in foreign places is always a good thing); but we really want to get to experience and learn about the LSU pregame culture as well. What are your tailgates like? I've heard they're rather legendary, and that LSU fans cook a mean meal. Do you think it will be close to the same intensity on the road as it is at home? I can only imagine that it's a roaring good time back in Baton Rouge. I'm just hoping that it's close to that fun away from home.
Are there any traditions or things I should look for, especially for your road games? Are you guys pretty welcoming to outsiders joining you for a beer? I've always hung out with Duck fans at games - in Eugene, Arizona, SoCal, etc. It's obviously a good time, or else I wouldn't do it and tell people how fun it is. At the same time, I'm really hoping to meet some fun LSU people. Also, are there any tailgating traditions that are a must-see that still go on when you travel?
Thanks in advance, and I'm really looking forward to this game. Good luck guys... and Go Ducks!
