If you could add one former Tiger to this year's team...
Who would it be? Let's limit it to the Les Miles era. As far as what I think, the defensive backfield is pretty set, but I wouldn't mind having Patrick Peterson back there again obviously, but he might not give us the biggest upgrade. LaRon Landry also doesn't fill a position of need.
It would be great to have a quality, experienced linebacker (Ali Highsmith, Kelvin Sheppard) but even our best linebackers (in my opinion) haven't been good enough to warrant being chosen.
Defensive line is young and relatively unproven, and I would LOVE having Glenn Dorsey back to pair with ends that can actually rush the passer (which Jackson and Pittman couldn't do great).
Offensive line is deep and set, but would anybody want to see a Ciron Black back there? And tight end is as athletic as we've seen it, even if Peterson lacks the consistency.
Running back I'd say we're pretty set, although it'd be fun to have a Trindon Holliday back to offset Ware.
Wide receiver we are definitely lacking depth (or are at least unproven), so I'd love to have Dwayne Bowe back for both the blocking and receiving.
Then the most obvious position: quarterback. JaMarcus Russell from 2006 would be unbelievable...I guess there isn't much competition for that replacement, unless we knew how Perrilloux would've turned out.
So for me at least, I think it comes down to WR vs QB vs DT. Putting Dorsey on the line would make our defense virtually unstoppable, adding Bowe would help our quarterbacks out hopefully to the point that we wouldn't need JaMarcus, but getting Russell would shore up our glaring weakness.
It's tough between Dorsey and Russell, but I think I would just go with Dorsey just because of how much fun it would be to watch our defense with him. What do you guys think?

If you're breaking the rules
with The Ruston Rifle then I’m picking Doc Fenton.

Les Miles era:
Dorsey or Flynn. Yeah, I picked Flynn over Russell.
LULWAT?
JaMarcus hands down. Maybe over Bert Jones.
Jordan Jefferson ...errrr...Jarrett Lee for Heisman!
Gotta go JaMarcus
If the criteria is former Tigers who DIDN’T colossally fuck up after leaving school, it’d be Flynn. But this is pre-codine JaMarcus we’re talking about.
This one is easy..
Jamarcus Russell… Flynn’s the only competition. This team + a great QB = unstoppable.
Father. Husband. Lawyer. Nerd.
Given the strong and balanced team LSU is now...
for the sheer sake of reliability, I’d take Flynn over Russell, and Bert over both. But for a team not as strong, I’d go with the unmatched-in-college-football-history long rifle of Russell over Flynn and Bert.
More reliable?
Dude, Russell as a junior had a ten point higher completion percentage than Flynn as a senior. And seven more touchdowns. And three fewer interceptions. And 700 more yards. In fewer attempts.
Anyone who says Flynn was better than Russell is allowing the NFL careers to cloud their analysis.
Don't Panic.

Didn't say anything about the NFL...
Russell choked on big games that would have led to a ‘06 title run—Aub. and Fla. He had brilliant games against average and sub-par teams and led miraculous comebacks against mediocre teams we shouldn’t have been behind on in the first place. Whereas Flynn held his cool and delivered no matter who was on the field.
The answer is Russell
but damn it’s hard not to pick Dorsey for sheer entertainment value.
Men, there's a little crippled boy sitting in a hospital who wants you to win this game. I know because I crippled him myself to inspire you.
Yeah I debated it for a while and it was harder than I thought
Logically Russell would have to be the pick….but I went with Dorsey cause he would make our defense absolutely unbeatable, something that I’m only more sure about after the Oregon game.
