Les Miles Postgame Press Conference
The First question is asked by Bobby Hebert, T-Bob's father. It kinda gets awkward

Pretty somber,
Feel bad that the players have to sit through that.
Alabama fans, ask yourself this question: Is this who you want representing your University and your fanbase?

Their humility and poise in answering those questions reflects very well upon them, the team, and their coaching.

Why does it say "Allstate Sugar Bowl"? I thought that game was last week.
Sorry to be snarky, I’m in a pissy mood today, like a lot of others. Still, Miles is a great coach and we had a great year, we just didn’t finish it.
Better to die happy than to live miserably.
Normally I like Bobby
But what an a-hole. It doesn’t matter if what he said is true or not, if he’s gonna pretend to be a reporter he needs to sober up. Ridiculous.

Oh, that was a reporter?
I thought it was just a pissed-off, neanderthal fan that wanted to rant.

Absolutely right.
WTF is wrong with him? Oh, wait, T-Bob didn’t play, so he bashes Miles about Lee not playing. Completely unprofessional and embarrassing for LSU fans. I’m not upset that JJ is done at LSU, but with Lee’s fear in the pocket all season, he would have been eaten alive. Same for T-Bob. He was eaten alive by Bama and Miles rightly did not play him if he wanted the best in.

that should have been a reply to Mark.

I agree
I think it’s easy for us to question why Lee wasn’t in the game, but the bottom line is that it likely wouldn’t have mattered.
Would I have put him in? Probably, but I wouldn’t bet that it would work.

Oh yes, I would have put him in...but I think a pick-6 would have been the result.

I think so to, but I'd have tried it.
But knowing how bad Lee is, I don’t blame Les for not trying.

When was the last time he threw a pick 6
The man has been as loyal a tiger as can be. He saved our season early this year and yet people refer to him as pick 6 from his freshman year. Pretty crappy.

You took that wrong.
I have been pushing for Lee all year. But he has happy feet and feels pressure badly. Last night he would have been in the worst possible position. I expect he would throw pick 6 b/c Bama was swarming and putting pressure. As in first game, he would have been doing his best to avoid it and making some bad decisions. Not because he threw P6s as a freshman.

My bad
Just frustrated. That’s a possibility he would have played bad bt it’s also a possibility he came in and settled things down. Now I know that’s unlikely but now we will never now. By the way I blame the coaches more than JJ. My order of blame gors like this:
1. Miles-ultimately responsible b/c he’s the head coach and oversees all game plans. Also the team was flat from start to finish. We lost our edge and that’s on him for not getting the team up.
2. Stud-horrible game plan with no backup plan. Also bad o-line play which is his specialty
3. JJ-panick mode all game, his indecisive tendencies showed.
4. Hurst-2 false starts to start drives when we are struggling with moving the ball didn’t help. Also blcked down and left Upshaw of all people with a uncontested sack on JJ to kill a drive.
I would have put him in as well. Would it have done anything to change the outcome?
We really will never know. My heart broke for JL as he stood on the sidelines in the second half with his helmet on just watching the game waiting for a chance. The kid won us half the season behind center and gets pulled for two crappy throws in the first match-up against Bama and he can’t even get a couple reps with JJ doing his best “deer in the headlights” impression?
We needed a spark to get the team going instead of just standing around falling on our swords.
That said, still proud of what the team accomplished and think the young players are going to remember this one for a long, long time and turn the disappointment into a white hot burning desire to get back to the championship game. 13-1 and SEC champs? I’ll take it, my entire time at LSU were the Dinardo years. Just remember to tell yourself “Lou Tepper’s Drop Linebacker” over and over again and it gets easier to put everything in perspective imho.

Well Lee can sit around feeling sorry for himself...
I don’t know this to be true, but I bet he didn’t ask to be put into the game once. He plays scared, and I bet he didn’t want any part of Bama’s D.

And JJ wasn't playing scared the entire game?
I fail to see where it would have made any difference. Toss the kid a bone when we’re down by 15 with six minutes to play. Why not? Nothing else was working. The kid has been as loyal to this program as he could be all while the fanbase went out of their way to crap all over him at their earliest convenience.
Put him in for garbage time so he could at least tell his grandkids he played in a championship game once… naw, why break with tradition, lets crap all over our team and specific players after a nasty loss.

You call it tossing the kid a bone
I call it setting him up to fail.
The time to put Lee in the game was the second series in the second half. I just don’t think it mattered. The only reason to put Lee in the game is so the fans aren’t having these stupid debates today. I’d have put him in, I just don’t think it’s worth criticizing the coaching staff for the decision not to.

That's not true at all. He desperately wanted to play to fix the bad outing. He was pissed at Miles after game and even told reporters that.

that's ridiculous jonno
Lee played far better than Jefferson in his action this year. He wasn’t sitting around on the bench looking sorry for himself – Jefferson was. As is typical for him when he plays bad.
No way that's true
He said himself he got up on his own and started stretching and warming up, hoping to get a chance to go in.
"Lou Tepper’s Drop Linebacker"
Shudder Damn you!
I thought I couldn’t feel any worse today and you go and bring that up!
I was in the north endzone at the first home game with “the guy that wrote the book on defense.” The only reason we won was because the opposing QB couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. The defenders were constantly 10 yds, at least, off the receivers.

LOVE his response to the question about the Bama-LSU rivalry.
This season has taken that game up a notch. There will be some physical wars between these two over the next few years.

I reckon this coming November will be epic
night game in BR after all this? Yes please. Both teams should start the year in the top 5 depending on who leaves.

much respect to Bama, y’all whipped us good.

No other so-called "reporters" had the balls to ask Miles that question.
Hebert had every right to ask the question — and yeah, he should have cut down on his own editorial comments. But I have not seen or heard of a single instance where other reporters — including the editors of this site — asked probing and inconvenient questions of the coaching staff. What other university / coach would have let a senior 8-game winning QB sit on the bench after a first half performance like JJ’s?? Would Southern Cal? — Florida? And the real inconvenient truth is that after 4 years of this circus between Jefferson and Lee — we are still having QB performance that is sub-par (and in JJ’s case, abysmal). Bama torched us with a Sophomore QB, a first year starter! The Razorbacks reloaded this year with Sophomore QB apparently better than either of LSU’s seniors. Miles has yet to show he can recruit and develop a great all-American quality quarterback. And don’t tell me that next year, everything is going to be great at QB, so the past doesn’t matter. The ONLY reason Miles has Zach Mettenberger is because he got kicked off the Georgia squad. Look, I’m not a Miles hater, but he is a flawed coach. It is not disloyal to LSU to call him out when he abuses players (Jarrett Lee and also T-Bob for that matter) over internal politics that cost this great team a shot at a National Championship. Those do not come around often.
