Ishmael Wilson commits to A&M
Ishmael Wilson is a big time OL prospect from Texas, but originally from LA. He moved to TX after Katrina, but has been a lifelong LSU fan. He came to our JR Day a few weeks ago and was practically begging for an offer. Les said he did not have time to properly evaluate Wilson's film, so he would not be offering him at that time until he could further evaluate him. (I even remember the TX message boards blowing up over how dumb Miles was for not offering.) Wilson was upset, as most kids are, that he did not receive the offer; but he still said LSU was in the lead with TX right behind.
He was then supposed to go to TX Jr Day last week, but he and his father got a flat tire the night before and did not get home til after 2 am; so he skipped TX Jr Day because he was exhausted. Even though he said he was upset that he couldn't attend and was hoping to attend their next Jr Day, it seemed to open a small window for Les to extend an offer and maybe get a commit before his next visit. But no offer came and Wilson went on A&M's Jr Day this weekend, and got an offer and committed soon after.
Hopefully this is just a case of him jumping on the first real offer he got, and we still have a shot to flip him if we ever offer... or maybe he chose A&M because he is bitter towards LSU for not offering him before. I am not sure how this is going to play out, but Les may have let a very good one slip right through his fingers...

Texas A&M commit Ishmael Wilson said he will not be going to Texas. He said done with junior days and confident in his commitment.
Hopefully he will change his mind once LSU, his dream school, finally offers the kid!!

Taking a Texas A&M offer...
Has been a pretty good ploy to get an LSU offer lately.
Eye right blahgs.
I was thinking
Curtis Johnson would sway him over to Tulane.
LSU is an 800 lb gorilla. With a chainsaw as a penis.
I'm starting to wonder about this kid
For somebody that is supposed to be such a big-time prospect, the major programs close to home are shying away here.

Well A&M offered him
and Texas was supposed to, but he didn’t make it to their Junior Day. Many think he would have definitely earned an offer if he attended. And now he’s saying he’s not going to anymore JR Days… but I would get more offers if if he went to other JR days

If Texas really wanted him they'd offer
Whether he came or not. There’s gotta be more to it than this.

I have read that he needs to gain some weight
and some other small details but nothing that really throws up any red flags. I also have heard that TAMU is just a placeholder and if and when LSU offers he is yours.

That's not how Texas usually operates
They like to offer in person, and then only after gauging the chances of acceptance by the recruit. Kind of a, “If we’re in a position to offer you right now, are you in the position to accept?” kind of deal.
Yeah, but that has its limits
Especially if you’re an elite left tackle prospect. Between that, and LSU’s reticence to offer, I’m thinking there’s clearly some questions regarding whether Wilson is one or not.

Honestly the whole thing reminds me of Abraham "Nacho" Garcia
Last year, who everybody thought would be a big-timer that LSU HAD to offer because he really liked them and was buddies with Avery Johnson. But as the evaluation process unfolded, it turned out he was more hype than substance.
Like I said, coaches watch a whole lot more than the 5 minute highlight reels we see.

If LSU offers
then he will flip, but if they don’t then I think he will stay w/ A&M. Seems he would rather play in the SEC.
