First Justin Hamilton and now former ISU forward Calvin Godfrey. RT @calgod15 #LSU bound, wait til you see me work. 👉🏀— Dan Tracy (@dtracy89) May 7, 2012
The above comes from an Ames, IA radio host, who is quoting the player's own twitter account. Godfrey is not only another Iowa St player coming to LSU, but would also be the 2nd basketball transfer to LSU from Howard College, following Shavon Coleman from earlier this offseason. The 6'8" 215 lbs. Power Forward had an up and down time at Iowa State, being suspended early in his Freshman season for a "violation of team rules" but came back later that year to average 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in seven games after returning from his suspension. Our SBN Blog Bros at the excellent Wide Right Natty Light recall his best performance being a 23 point, 11 rebound "massacre" against Colorado. However, he was kicked off the team that May following a marijuana possession arrest and ended up at Howard College. Godfrey could be a good addition if he can stay out of trouble and his already spent time on the court with Coleman may aid in the transition for both of them. LSU is still looking for a center, though, as the Justin Hamilton departure just leaves walk-on Andrew "The Tuba Player" Del Piero as the only listed big man on the team.
