A consensus 5* top LB and top 10 overall player in the nation, Kain Daub 6-3 245 Nease HS, St. Augustine, FL, committed to LSU on Saturday at the first day of the July Camp. Daub was apparently passing through Baton Rouge and decided to stop in for an impromptu visit. The coaches rolled out the red carpet for this unexpected visitor and his family, and they greatly impressed all of the Daubs (they were very impressed on what the coaches were able to put together for them in such a short notice). Daub then decided to stay for a few more days (canceling his visit to Bama), and even joined 1 of the 7-on-7 teams (The Bootleggers) who have about 4 current LSU 2013 commits (whom he got along with greatly). After the 7-on-7 tourney (which the Bootleggers easily won), Les Miles talked to Daub about the importance of being the #1 commitment in a class and the leadership role that is comes with, and asked Daub if he would like to be the our first 2014 commit. Daub was flattered and immediately accept the offer and responsibility of being our 2014 class leader.
From everyhting I have seen, he sounds like a great young man, and an even better football player. Obviously there is much concern over whether or not we can hang onto this FL kid who has been recruited VERY HARD by FL, FL ST, and Bama... but he has visited many colleges so far, and he loved the family atmosphere so much at LSU that he decided to commit. He will be on campus for another day or 2 (I think), so hopefully he wont have "buyer's remorse" as soon as he gets back home lol. This is a bigtime pickup for Miles and Co... Geaux Tigers!
