It doesn't seem like it could possibly be August 1. Classes resume at LSU on August 26, but many of our players are still playing for their respective teams across the country. Since my last update, one big change has occurred. Jared Foster left his team in the Coastal Plain League to play in the Northwoods League. He is playing for the Battle Creek Bombers.
On July 29, Tyler Moore, Andrew Stevenson and Mitch Sewald were selected to participate in the Northwoods League Big League Dreams Showcase. They all represented the South Division. This year's games were held at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin, which serves as the home park for the Madison Mallards. In the first game between the North and South, Tyler Moore went 3-5 with an RBI double and scored a run. In the 2nd game, the South fell to the North 7-6. Andrew Stevenson went 2-4 and had an RBI single.
Taylor Butler and the Amsterdam Mohawks (31-16) clinched the East Division of the Perfect Game Collegiate League. Their playoff games start tomorrow. Butler has pitched much better as of late. His opponent batting average has dropped from .286 to .227 in 3 weeks.
Be sure to follow @LSUSummerBall for more updates through the end of summer.
