Thornton set a Hornets' franchise record with a 23-point second quarter before finishing with a game- and career-high 37 on 15-of-22 shooting. Of course, the Hornets still lost so maybe that's the strongest link to LSU's current situation.

Garrett Temple will be called-up to the Houston Rockets tomorrow. This doesn't surprise me one iota.

While Temple is averaging a rather pedestrian 14.9 points, 3.7 boards and 3.4 assists while shooting 43% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc, he knows the system and fills a void with both Trevor Ariza and Kyle Lowry expected to not be available until after the all-star break.

Temple was described as a do-it-all, defensive stopper during his four seasons as an LSU Tiger, never scoring very well, but he finished his college career as the only player in school history in the top 10 in career assists, steals and blocked shots.

There was a rumor floating around Alabama yesterday that a Tennessee fan was trying to change the name of its sewage treatment plants to the "Lane Kiffin Sewage Plant".

Apparently this was no rumor.

Every year, athletic directors and head coaches evaluate their programs, making whatever adjustments are necessary to stay on top of the game. I am personally committed to working with Coach Miles to evaluate and improve all aspects of our football program to keep us strong and competing for championships. LSU had a nice season in 2009 with nine wins and a New Year's Day bowl game. On the other hand, being "nice" is not our annual goal. We intend to contend for - and win - championships at LSU.
