...Top-25 prospect Jordan Mickey committed to the Tigers, as first reported by Scout.com. Mickey, a 6-foot-7 forward from the newly-opened Prime Prep in Dallas, chose the Tigers over Ohio State, SMU and Oklahoma State. Even with SMU's resurgence in his backyard, the chance to come in and snag playing time right away was too difficult to turn down. "I like coach Jones," Mickey told us last week. "I like the offense and the ability to come in and make an immediate impact."

LSU lands a big one: Top-25 senior Jordan Mickey picks Tigers We've also learned, via Eric Reid, that Jordan Mickey is WR James Wright's little brother, which I bet was a big help in landing the prospect.

BATON ROUGE - For the second time in three years, LSU will be one of the featured matchups on the opening weekend of the college football season as the Tigers will face TCU in the 2013 Cowboys Classic in Arlington, Texas, the schools announced on Tuesday. The 2013 Cowboys Classic featuring LSU and TCU will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31, and will be televised by either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. Next year's season-opener will mark the second time that the Tigers will appear in the Cowboys Classic as fourth-ranked LSU beat third-ranked Oregon, 40-27, to open the 2011 season at the event in Arlington.

LSUSports.net - Football to Open 2013 vs. TCU at Cowboys Stadium Presumably this kills the TCU Home and Home. There is also no mention of what LSU will now do with the empty spot in week 2

TCU will open the 2013 season against LSU in the Cowboys Stadium Classic, a source close to the negotiations said. The Horned Frogs and Tigers were set to play a home and home series in 2013 and 2014. This new deal scratches the second meeting

TCU, LSU scrap series in favor of Cowboys Stadium Classic - Fort Worth Star-Telegram I'm disappointed if this news is true, because I was looking forward to this home-and-home. Without TCU, next year's home slate is reduced to UAB, Furman, Auburn, A&M, Arky, and UF (and probably a 7th game against a 1-AA team, because TCU was set to play us in Week 2 and I doubt they want to have the bye week that early)

PARKING ALERTS Due to rain from Hurricane Isaac, some grass parking lots may be unusable. Fans are encouraged to carpool and arrive early. Lot L will be unavailable to pass holders in that lot for the North Texas game due to medical special needs associated with Hurricane Isaac. Lot L pass holders will be contacted by the LSU Athletic Parking Office for information on an alternative parking location for the North Texas game. Fans may not erect tents or tent frames on the LSU campus until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, due to clean up from the impact of Hurricane Isaac. Police will remove tents or tent frames that are erected prior to 5 p.m. on that day. TRAFFIC ALERT River Road south of Brightside, which has been closed much of the last year, is now open. Due to power outages associated with Hurricane Isaac, fans are cautioned that some traffic signals may still be inoperable on game day.

If the Tide were Warlord and Barbarian, methodical and full of brute force, the Bayou Bengals were the Road Warriors, flying at you from all fronts and giving one hell of an interview afterwards. (And let's face it: Les Miles is closer to Precious Paul Ellering than any other football coach.)

Bill Connelly's team previews are never stingy on the info, and his LSU one doesn't disappoint.

I am heartbroken, but my head is held high. Knowing I gave everything I had is the greatest victory. Unending thanks to my LSU football fam.

Mo Isom That about says it all. Can't say she didn't get a fair shot, or that she didn't give it everything she could. Isom will have to settle with being one of the greatest goalkeepers in SEC history.

Running a formation Reid had only seen a handful of times, Mettenberger thought he would finally get the upper hand on the preseason All-Southeastern Conference safety. But Reid had other ideas. "Don’t even think about it, Zach," Reid cautioned, hinting he knew the play before Mettenberger himself had a full grasp of what was about to happen.
