Top running back Storm Johnson chooses LSU - NOLA.com

Top running back Storm Johnson chooses LSU - NOLA.com

This is the one we jumped the gun on earlier. I am a big fan of Storm Johnson, out of Loganville, Georgia. If you look at his film side-by-side with the film of 5-star running back Marcus Lattimore, you would have a hard time figuring out which one is the 5-star and which is not. He is perhaps a little raw and you would like to see him be more of a pass-catching threat than his videos show, but the kid can haul the mail.

He reported offers from all over the country, including Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Penn State. He made it very clear early that he was not interested in staying in-state, so Georgia and Georgia Tech never made a serious play for him.

We aren't done at running back, as we will certainly look for at least one more and possibly two more.

The title here is pretty self-explanatory. It's hard to argue with results, and when you consider this was a pretty bad team just a couple years ago, it shows just how good a job Paul Mainieri has done (even though I will continue to criticize bunting, but at least he does it a lot less than many coaches).

I normally think Pete Fiutak is an outstanding and insightful writer about football, but this is insane and points to how people get so hung up on star ratings and recruiting profiles. To suggest, months before the season starts, and before some of these players have even reported to school that TWO incoming freshmen are among the 8 best players on a team considered by many to be pre-season top 10 is beyond my capacity to understand.

In lesser mistakes, Dont'a Hightower is a sophomore rather than a senior and Kareem Jackson is listed twice.

TusconRoyal posted this as a FanPost 4 days ago, but I just now noticed it. I just don't look over there all that often, but I should. And you guys should post more FanShots. If you see an article or a picture or a video that you want posted here, just make a Fanshot of it. Move the little bookmark tab to your bookmark bar and SBNation will do most of the work for you.

Anyway, this article goes into some of the statistics of why bunting is rarely a good idea, and why risking outs on the bases is also rarely a good idea. It's well-worth reading.

To Holliday, a Zachary native, enough was enough.

On Friday night, his world-class speed finally made him the fastest man in NCAA track as he won the 100 meters final with a time of 10.00 seconds at John McDonnell Field. The time equaled the personal-best he recorded in winning his preliminary heat Wednesday.

LSU fourth-year junior forward Tasmin Mitchell told ESPN.com on Sunday night he plans to withdraw...

LSU fourth-year junior forward Tasmin Mitchell told ESPN.com on Sunday night he plans to withdraw his name from the NBA draft and return for his senior season with the Tigers.

"I’m going back to school," Mitchell told ESPN.com’s Andy Katz. "I’ll take care of (the paperwork with the NBA) Monday."

2theadvocate.com | Mitchell says he'll return to LSU for senior season. Word had gotten out that this was coming down. It is, of course, huge news for the basketball program, which needed Taz back if it was going to have any hope of being competitive next year. As it is, the team will have an uphill climb with only 2 starters returning.
