Saints take Wells?

Q: In Charles Davis' latest mock draft, he predicted that we would take Beanie Wells. Didn't Sean Payton say that he was going to get a power back this offseason? Beanie Wells might be the best available player when we pick in the first round, just like Deuce was in 2001. I know that we have a lot of money invested in a Heisman running back right now, but didn't we have big money invested in a Heisman running back in 2001? Wasn't his name Ricky Williams? A: Richard, you make some good points. I don't think it's out of the question that the Saints draft a running back at No. 14 and Beanie Wells would likely be the first target. He would add a dimension to the team and improve its ability to close out games, which was a major bugaboo last year. I'm confident the Saints will take the best player available if they chose to stay at No. 14 and the best player very well could be Beanie Wells.
