And The Valley Shook, a LSU Tigers community

If you're not aware of the story, go check out the Wake Forest blog, but the short version is this: Coach Tom Walter gave one of his players a kidney. That is a simply amazing sacrifice for a coach, and we all applaud him as a human being. We want to beat Wake Forest this weekend, but Paul Mainieiri has the right idea when the LSU Baseball twitter feed read: Coach Mainieri just issued our fans a challenege for Friday: "To stand and give Tom Walter an ovation because of his tremendous sacrifice." That shouldn't be much of a challenge. I'm sure Coach Walter didn't do it so he could get a standing ovation from 10,000 strangers, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't get one. This is a wonderful chance for us to applaud one of the good guys, even if he coaches the other team. Especially because he coaches the other team. Some things should be honored simply because it's the right thing to do. Here's to Coach Tom Walter.

The title here is pretty self-explanatory. It's hard to argue with results, and when you consider this was a pretty bad team just a couple years ago, it shows just how good a job Paul Mainieri has done (even though I will continue to criticize bunting, but at least he does it a lot less than many coaches).

Follow to see where LSU players and prospects are drafted. Jared Mitchell was drafted 23rd to the White Sox. Signee Slade Heathcott went #29 to the Yankees. Other draft-eligible Tigers include Blake Dean, Ryan Schimpf, DJ Lemahieu, Sean Ochinko, Derek Helenihi, and a few others. Signees Brody Colvin and Zach Von Rosenberg are expected to be drafted as well.
