Apologies for the lack of updates over the past week as I've been on the road. Nothing like a trip to Arkansas to make you appreciate the finer things in life. Things like, you know, pavement, teeth and music without a steel guitar. Okay, so it wasn't that bad, but when you're there, it's always a nice feeling to know that you get to leave. Those other poor saps have to stay there and do that stupid calling of the hogs. If I never hear that again, it will be too soon.
Anyway, upon my return from the upper half of "The Boot," I arrived just in time to watch the LSU women's basketball team lay an egg in the Final Four. It was painful to watch. I'm not quite sure how a Final Four-caliber team can only score 35 points (I don't care if you're playing the Pistons), but they managed.
As a result, LSU's distinguished record in the Final Four continues. Between the men's and women's teams, LSU is a combined 0-10 in eight Final Fours. The men's team has lost all four of its semifinal games and two consolation games (which were discontinued after the 1981 Final Four). The women's team has now dropped all four of its semifinal appearances, coming in succession since 2004.
There certainly hasn't been any other school with that record of futility. So, we got that going for us, which is nice.
