Huge crowds set a record for attendance, as Centenary was demolished in a 3-game sweep. Friday was a rusty 5-4 win that, despite a great 5 innings from Ranaudo, needed Matty "Ice" Ott to lock it down in the 9th. Saturday was an unreal offensive explosion that saw LSU lead 15-0 in the 4th, eventually wining 25-8, the highest run total since the 90's. The bench was cleared for the final innings and 3 FR pitchers saw action. Sunday was an excellent premier for FR RH Joey Bourgeois with 6 scoreless innings in a 4-0 win. I'm gonna miss playing the Gents...
A true heartbreaker in the PMAC on Saturday, as LSU gets SEC loss #12 against the cowbells, 60-59. The Tigers surged ahead on a 10-2 run in the final minutes and gained the lead in the final seconds off a 3 by Taz, only to have MSU drive right back down the court and get a 3 of their own. On the run back, Spencer put up a desperation half-court shot way too early that missed the backboard completely. On MSU's resulting inbound pass, Taz got an interception but lost control of the ball on an apparent no-call foul (it kinda looks like he just lost control on the under-the-basket replay) and the game was over. During the game, Taz passed Bob Petit on the scoring list and stands at 1926 with 5 games remaining.
Football had Junior Day on Saturday and got two commits out of it, LB Trevon Randle and WR Alonzo Lewis. Trevon in particular is a pretty good steal from Texas.
In an open Indoor meet at LSU this weekend, Richard Thompson (#9 on the 30 Greatest List) set a new Field House record of 6.59 seconds in the 60 meter dash. Thompson is not competing professionally in Indoor this year, but does train in Baton Rouge.
Softball wins Tiger Classic with the final game against a surprising Virginia squad that upset #4 Michigan on Saturday.
Rebecca St. Germain was named SEC female Diver of the year at the SEC Championship meet this weekend. A conference title still alludes the Tigers, who now prepare for NCAA qualifying meets.
GYM had its first tie in a decade at Fayetteville on Friday. Susan Jackson broke her 6-straight All-around streak, coming in 2nd by just .1 of a point.
Only one team in action tonight, but it's a big one. Ladies head to rocky top and face the #5 Vols. Game is on ESPN2 at 6pm.
After the Jump, Full Replay of the scoring explosion on Saturday. Around the 6-minute mark you'll see (but unfortunately not hear) the new pregame scoreboard video.
