First, a genuine Get Well Soon to Dandy Don, currently recovering from surgery to remove colon cancer. Hurry back, Don. We'll need ya for spring ball.
The Ladies did not have a good trip to Rocky Top, losing 70-61 and dropping to 7-7 in conference. The game was close early but the tigers went cold towards the end of the 1st half and never recovered.
Spring ball begins in 2 days and we still don't have a replacement for Yanowsky. The only indication I'd seen on a replacement is USF's Co-OL Larry Scott. One of 2 Leavitt assistants retained by the Skip Holtz transition, Scott (formerly a TE coach for most of his time at USF) seems to be a Damn Strong recruiter, though the need for someone on staff with inroads to Florida isn't as urgent since the Gonzales hire. Not to mention alot of fans were hoping the next hire would be a QB/TE coach to pull that duty from Crowton. Message board rumors say Scott had a bad interview last week and now point to UCF's Tim Salem, who's coached a little bit of everything on offense.
Speaking of the spring game, Tickets are on sale now, $5 at the door or free if you print out that coupon above. Don't say we never did anything for ya.
Both indoor teams are now ranked in the top 5 (Men #3, Ladies #5) and head to SEC championships this weekend.
Weather is getting cold and bad over the next few days, so the McNeese St. game might be a rain out. After the break, The Trent Johnson Show.
