Monday Press Lunch: Week 6 @ Florida

Miles, Muschamp, and the players meet with the media

Starts at the 18 minute mark...Miles takes some of the blame for not getting through to the team, and that they'll work better to get their attention this week (read: Moffitt's gonna wind sprint them until their legs fall off)...getting Zach Mettenberger to realize that he needs to get the ball out of his hands in a timely maner is something they are continuing to work on...very complimentary about UF's starting QB Jeff Driskel and RB Mike Gillislee (that's GILL-is-lee, coach)...Eric Reid, Sam Montgomery, and Mettenberger mentioned as team leaders, but getting the team prepared and focused is still Miles' responsibility...Miles likes the current pass protection, but some mistakes by freshman backs and Mett holding on too long are costing them...Everyone is in good health and should start next week, with the exception of JC Copeland, who will be decided on later in the week (Copeland was seen coming out of the facility later in the day and seems to be in good shape)....The lack of experience in positions where freshman are playing for injured upperclassmen is a hinderance, but the players get better as they settle into their new roles...Kwon Alexander gets a lot of praise for what he's been able to do as a freshman while Vadal Alexander seems to need some more work. Danielle Hunter alos gets a nice shoutout....Dworaczyk should start this week, but he and the OL starters are a gametime decision...There is more to the playbook, but early in the season it's not going to be seen while we still have trouble with the basics...Barkevious Mingo is still improving at DE and while it wasn't where he started, his speed and wingspan give him a big advantage at the position...Lamin Barrow feels more comfortable in his role now that he's had more reps in live games, and that's why he's playing more...Miles recognizes that as the competition gets tougher, you don't want to be too predictable in the playcalling, but it's also not a bad thing to be predictable and successful...Connor Neighbors seems to be the preferred replacement at FB, but as mentioned above, Copeland may be able to go anyway...Jerrard Randall and Rob Bolden are being developed, but it's clear bringing them in in some sort of option package is not going to happen...Randall and OL Jerald Hawkins get shoutouts for good work on the practice squad...
