It was another great year in the Draft for LSU, where all 3 of our early declaring JRs were drafted high in the first 2 days. Here I've linked the reaction to their selection from our NFL counterparts around SB Nation
Undrafted Free Agents (some of these are hard to confirm, as teams wont say anything official until paperwork is in with the league. If you know of any I'm missing, speak up in the comments)
QB Jordan Jefferson - Tampa Bay (invited to workout)
Paul Billy talked with SB Nation Dallas about the newest Tiger to wear the star.
While Chavis' new contract was not on the agenda at the Board of Supervisors meeting last week, the stadium expansion plan was approved and LSU officially opened the new seats for reservation, which has revealed some of the pricing. The new suites will require an annual $69,000 "donation" and with more than 60 suites being added that makes for over $4 million in additional revenue annually, and it doesn't even include tickets. (Also of note, LSU System President John Lombardi was suddenly fired in the same meeting.)
Another football move of note is that Asst. S&C coach Derrick LeBlanc may be headed to Wyoming for the DL coaching job there.
In Basketball, new coach Johnny Jones has added to both the team and staff last week with the signings of 6-6, 200lbs Shavon Coleman of Howard College and 6-6, 190lbs Shane Hammink from Spain, son of former Tiger All-SEC center Geert Hammink, who played for LSU from 1989-93. Jones has also added to his staff with former assistants Shawn Forrest and Charlie Leonard from his times at North Texas and Memphis. Jones is expected to add at least 1 more coach to his staff and is still working on a few more recruits to fill out the class.
Conference Realignment has never really stopped as the smaller players in college sports continue to maneuver for survival. In the last few days rumors have Utah St and San Jose St headed for the Mountain West, effectively killing the WAC, while UT-San Antonio, whose highly successful 1 year old football program may be facilitating a jump from FCS independence straight into CUSA.
Yet again, the start day and times of the CWS are getting moved around for soccer coverage. But the good news is that Kyle Peterson is finally moving into the booth in Omaha.
After years of construction, the new Tiger Band Hall opened on campus last week.
