The news is already confirmed on the LSU website.
We are at Defcon Four here at ATVS HQ and have sent up the Bat Signal to get your trusty correspondents together to talk about the impact of this on LSU's chances to repeat as SEC Champions. Please keep checking the site all weekend long because you will be getting the kind of analysis and snarkiness you've come to expect from the best LSU blog on the interwebs.
The initial reaction I have is one of shock. I can't think of a more high profile player kicked off of his team right before the season began in the past decade. We are talking about a returning Heisman Trophy finalist and a player so good that he appeared on some All-America teams twice.
NICKNAME REDACTED will be sorely missed. He is one of the most explosive players in LSU history, and his absence leaves a gaping hole in the secondary and on special teams. More coverage is coming, but until then let's remember two things:
ONE: This is all Paul's fault.
TWO: Delusional Optimism, baby. This is just the way Les gets rid of all the bandwagon fans. We still got the Delusional Optimism and this is still your home for following LSU's march to the national title.
UPDATE: Per Josh Jasper, Mathieu has already transferred to McNeese St. in Lake Charles
