Olympic Update: Lolo Jones wins her opening heat in the 100m hurdles with a 12.68, the 2nd best time of the round. Semi finals are tomorrow.

As we've said before, the only news that comes out of camp is bad news. First there are a pair of academic casualties with WR Avery Johnson (Patrick Peterson's little brother) failing to qualify due to an ACT score, and OL Fehoko Fanaika "did not qualify." Miles expects both to make it to LSU in January. For those of you playing the home game, that frees up two scholarships for LSU, who was already under the count. The only injury of note is Paul Turner who is "a little nicked" Tons of practice videos after the break, and don't miss the first Big Cat Drill of the season that we posted Sunday

That news isn't great, but UCLA proves that fall camp could always be going much worse.

In the first of many Preseason All-Americans lists, LSU is the only team with 5 appearances on CBS's list, thanks mainly to Tyrann Mathieu appearing twice as CB/PR.

For the 9th year in a row, LSU has sold out of season tickets. The Summer Session graduation was last week and a special milestone was reached as former LB Darry Beckwith became the 19th member of the 2008 SR class to graduate, meaning that the entire 2008 football SR class has graduated. Other notable athletics graduates included CB Chevis Jackson and TE Richard Dickson.

A pair of incoming LSU swimmers have made a name for themselves in London with their patriotic bodysuits.

The Birmingham News notes that the 12th game in college football, now entering it's 7th year, hasn't led to greater variety in scheduling and has actually turned into a monetary boon for big name programs that choose to load up on cupcakes.

While LSU offering a U-High middle schooler is an outlier, SB Nation's Bud Elliot notes that recruiting of players and their subsequent verbal commitments is happening earlier than ever.

With realignment and other priorities forcing change to the football schedule, the third wheel in the new LSU-A&M relationship is clearly Arkansas. But they'll be fine without us. YOU'LL SEE! SHE'LL NEVER LOVE YOU LIKE WE DID! SHE'S GOING TO CHEAT ON YOU THE FIRST TIME YOU TURN YOUR HEAD! (that was awkward, but the Expats Saved By The Bell analogy works pretty well)

The Big East's TV prospects are suddenly a whole lot less dim as NBC (and their new NBC Sports Network, which you've undoubtedly been watching during the olympics) is reaching out to get some much needed content. Meanwhile, here's a refresher of all of the network changes that are ahead for this season.

UNO continues to regain it's D-1 legs and could be announced as a new member of the Southland conference in a matter of weeks. Also in small school realignment, Stony Brook is headed for the CAA, the same conference as 2012 opponent Towson (small world, eh?)

A horrible crime has been commited in Ruston as La Tech's live bulldog, Tech XX, died due to employee negligence at an area vet.
