2016 DT Edwin Alexander Commits!

Yes, he may only be a sophomore in high school, but the 6'4" 280 lb. behemoth has been a wrecking crew (get it? It's an A&M pun) for St. Thomas Aquinas and he just became the first commitment of the 2016 class.

The win over A&M has already paid dividends when the coaching staff received their first commitment in the 2016 class when defensive tackle Edwin Alexander out of St. Thomas Aquinas gave his verbal commitment tonight.  While there is not much info out there on him right now, know this: he is an absolute monster.

What Are We Getting?

There isn't much footage of him outside of three plays over on Hudl, but make no mistake about it, this kid is an impressive athlete.  At 6'4" and 280 lbs, Alexander can be a load with his strength and his surprising agility.  He would be able to gain a good bit more weight for his height and could be an absolute monster in the 300+ lb. range.  Either way, Brick Haley has to be doing backflips tonight knowing he has one in his pocket for 2016, a player who already had offers from Ole Miss and Florida besides the LSU one.

Like I said, there is not a lot of footage to get a scouting report on him, but it is evident he his a talented recruit.  It is nice to get him in early so more focus will be paid towards the player and more can be seen from him.  This is a solid addition to the 2016 class after wide receiver Darnell Salomon out of Florida got close to taking the honor of being the first 2016 commitment a few weeks ago. He delayed making that jump, opening the opportunity for Alexander to take that distinction.  The in-state talent for that class will be strong and should make for another solid LSU class
