LSU Football 2013 Draft Profiles: Chris Faulk

Position: Off. Tackle
Combine Height/Weight: 6-5, 331 pounds
LSU Listed Height/Weight: 6-6, 323 pounds
Arm Length: 34 1/4 inches
40-Yard Dash Time: N/A (ditto other drills - injuries)
Bench-Press Reps (of 225 pounds): 25

Strengths

Country. Strong. When Faulk gets his hands on a defender, they move...fantastic punch and anchor, especially in the running game...can really focus his upper-body strength from his shoulders and outward... rarely, if ever, got bull-rushed over at LSU and excelled at the power and zone run-blocking game because he didn't always have to lock on to a defender in space to get them down.

Weaknesses

Obviously, his knee will be under the microscope following an injury early his junior season...a little stiff in the hips, which will hamper his movement against NFL defenders and makes him a little susceptible to speed rushers...might be a better fit on the right side. Needs to develop counter-moves for weakside speed-rushers.

Verdict

Faulk could've possibly stood to gain from returning for his senior season, but will likely still be a high-enough pick to justify his decision. He's not an elite NFL left tackle now, but has the potential to develop into one down the road with some more work. However, he could be spectacular on the right side, provided his knee is ready in time for training camp. Will likely be off the board in the top 100 picks, and go even higher if there's a run on offensive tackles.
