Despite the threat of rain canceling other games, LSU v McNeese will start on time at 6:30pm. Mainieri has made a late change to start Hunter Newman (3.38 ERA, 0-0 with 8APP) instead of Cody Glenn so that Glenn can be used in the Thursday opener of the Florida series amid news that UF will be holding their ace for the 3rd game of that series. So Newman + Johnny Allstaff it is.
McNeese (20-21, 7-11, 8th in the Southland) is having a bad year that will likely end in their conference tournament. There's not a single marquee win in their resume and the bad losses are BAAAAAAD (swept by Nicholls, losses to 7-39 UNO and NAIA-member LSU-Alexandria). There are a few serviceable sticks in the lineup (notably Michael Sullivan and Jackson Gooch) but the starters are mostly hovering in the mid to low .200s. SWAC gameplan tonight: Get in, get out, knock the rust off the bullpen, and dont get hurt.
