He also added:
"Don't get the wrong vibe! LSU is and will always be my first love! Just need to first view all my options before the final decision"
Guice has yet to take any official visits so all five slots are in fact open. His original top 5 before committing to the Tigers was 1.LSU 2.Texas 3.Alabama 4.Georgia 5.Southern Miss.
In four games, Guice has rushed for 562 yards on 46 carries. He is considered the No.2 player in Louisiana and the No.6 running back in the nation according to 247 Sports.
Paul's Take
The news of Guice's decommitment is the second bit of negative recruiting news in recent weeks, following Kevin Henry's flip to Oklahoma State. That said, the split between Henry and LSU is likely more mutual. Guice is a tremendous running back prospect, one of the 75 best players in the nation. LSU will lose two senior running backs after this season in Kenny Hilliard and Terrence Magee.
LSU still has the commitment of Nick Brossette, but his commitment is also on shaky ground. He recently visited Notre Dame and some have openly speculated he, as well, may be looking at other options. That said, it's hard to imagine a Baton Rouge lab kid LSU wants getting away.
Guice will remain a top target for Frank Wilson. Landing at least two running back prospects will prove especially important in this signing class due to the loss of Hilliard and Magee, even with Fournette clearly working toward becoming the workhorse of the future. Guice is the number one guy on that list.
