The Tigers finished 6th place on Monday in the Paradise Jam contest. It was rather disappointing as The Tigers were among the favorites entering the tournament. Saturday the team continues non-conference play against McNeese State.
The Mustangs have only lost one game, but it was 80-39 to Baylor. Their only wins came against Louisiana College and Jarvis Christian. They are also one of the worst teams in the NCAA in field goal percentage at .404% (255th overall) and rebounds per game (21, 304th overall). The only category McNeese State seems to excel at is blocks per game. They average 9 blocks per game which is 2nd overall.
The Tigers should seemingly be able to handle the Mustangs easily. Hopefully the team will avoid a slow start and be able to finish the game strong. The Tigers struggled through their first three games to start fast. On Monday it was a weak finish that caused The Tigers to come up short against Clemson. Tonight, if they get off to a quick start, LSU should have no problem.
This may be one of The Tigers last chances to get an easy non-conference win, and score some style points. After The Mustangs, The Tigers will have to face Umass, and play at #21 West Virginia. It also could be one of the last games where coach Johnny Jones can try out some different starters. Quarterman, Bridgewater, and Odo could all see playing time. Look for Coach Jones to try out some different schemes in the first half, but likely stick with one player (probably Quarterman), in the second. The Tigers should win this one by double digits, let's hope the offense can get things going.
The game will be played in the PMAC and is set to air on SEC Network+ at 7pm CT.
