Spring Practice Round-Up - 3/13/14

A round-up of the news being reported from LSU Spring Practice.

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Spor

With Spring Practice kicking off just under a week ago for the Tigers, there's definitely some tidbits and news to bring you on that front. So here I'm going to bring you some of the news and notes that have filtered through from LSU's spring practice. So here's the goings on regarding LSU's Spring Practice.

With him and Kenny Hilliard being the only scholarship running backs in practice right now, Terrence Magee is receiving a heavy work load.

Early on, the quarterbacks are trying to earn some recognition in what appears to be a tight QB battle.

With Trai Turner leaving early for the NFL there's a heated battle going to fill LSU's right guard spot. Evan Washington has been running with the first team and appears to be the leader, but senior Fehoko Fainaka has taken first team snaps as well.

The word has been that it's been a tight QB battle, and that's been reinforced by player comments and comments from the two main horses in the race, Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings.

With a big hole looming at the receiver position, Travin Dural and John Diarse are making an early impact.

On a more disappointing note, Jermauria Rasco is out for the spring.

One of the big early stories was one of LSU's most highly touted signees from the 2013 recruiting class, Kendell Beckwith, getting moved to MLB. Now that he's there, Beckwith is pushing to earn that MLB starting spot.

There's been a few position changes for LSU and one of the more notable and surprising ones.....was the move of former QB Rob Bolden to receiver

These are some of the early news and developments from spring practice at LSU and we'll continue to bring some as practice rolls on, leading up to the Spring Game on Saturday, April 5th.

UPDATE:

These are some notes from Les' presser this evening (courtesy of various LSU writers on Twitter).

Ethan Pocic was at C for half the practice.

Said this on the QB's: "I like our movement, our advance". Typical Les.

As mentioned above, the experiment at RG continues with Fanaika and Washington the main two. Pocic is getting some time as well.

Said that Thomas, Herron, LaCouture, and Gilmore "have a real strong presence inside".

Terrence Magee is having a real nice spring, and so is Kenny Hilliard. Melvin Jones, whose practicing at RB from his usual LB spot is there to get some "big back carries".
