LSU walk on receiver and active duty Marine Luke Boyd promoted to Staff Sergeant - Football - A great story here. Active duty Marine Luke Boyd has been promoted to Staff Sergeant. He is also a walk-on receiver with the LSU football team. He's currently earning his education at LSU as part of the MECEP - the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Educational Program. He also hopes to take the field for LSU this fall.

LEGENDS: LSU had a humble matinee idol in Tommy Hodson - Football - I linked a few of these in my last Gumbo, but this Legends piece from Tiger Rag is about former LSU QB Tommy Hodson, he of the Earthquake game fame and much more.

Omaha Eight: Picking the 2015 field | Perfect Game USA - Perfect Game has released it's "Omaha Eight" for 2015. 4 of the teams - Virginia, Texas, TCU, and defending national champion Vandy - played in Omaha this past spring, and LSU is also listed.

Tyrann Mathieu replies to Twitter comment about Josh Gordon with serious answer | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo Sports - Josh Gordon was recently arrested for DWI, not that far removed from a year-long suspension for a failed marijuana test. After a tweet was sent out that said "Josh Gordon needs to start hanging out with Tyrann Mathieu" (Mathieu's username was tagged), Tyrann responded "oh no, I am still in recovery myself".

We all know how serious Mathieu can be with issues like this on Twitter and it was a very mature answer and good to see him recognize the steps he must keep making on his road to recovery.

Oh, and Deion Sanders made a really stupid response to that. Why? I have no idea.
