LSU suffered a humbling overtime loss at Missouri Thursday night and saw its eight game winning streak fizzle out. It was the team's first ever trip to Columbia since the hosts joined the SEC back in 2012. It was also a game that Jordan Mickey and Jarell Martin wish to soon forget as they each were held to nine points in the game.
The game was not totally bleak for Johnny Jones' team as he saw other players step up to the plate. The three amigos of Tim Quarterman, Keith Hornsby, and Jalyn Patterson scored 47 points in the 74-67 loss. The biggest bucket of the night came as Hornsby nailed down a trey with only 11 ticks on the clock that tied up the game and forced overtime. As Hornsbies go, "that's just the way it is."
The Tigers look to bounce back against the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night in the Deaf Dome. The Dawgs are also coming off a loss in the opening game of SEC play as they fell victim to the Arkansas Razorbacks 79-75 Tuesday.
A season ago Georgia swept LSU in a home-and-home series. The game in the PMAC saw Jarell Martin put up 13 points in a 69-61 loss. Of the other returning players Mickey added nine points, and Quarterman was held to no points in 10 minutes of play off the bench. Returning players for UGA Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines put up 22 and 20 points respectively. Mann added 10 rebounds for a double-double and shot a whopping 12 for 14 from the charity stripe.
With all this being said, the game tonight is an intriguing matchup as both teams look to even their conference record and regain momentum. It tips at 8:00 PM CST and again will be televised to a national audience on ESPNU.
