4-Star Leo Lewis Decommits From Ole Miss on Official Visit to LSU

4-star LB Leo Lewis decommitted from Ole Miss late night on his first night in Baton Rouge.

Late Friday night, news broke that 4-star LB Leo Lewis decommited from Ole Miss, while currently on his official visit to LSU.

That Lewis decommitted isn't groundbreaking news. Many projected he would eventually flip to Mississippi State by Signing Day. But the timing sure is interesting. The announcement comes not after Lewis' official visit, but on the very first day. As I noted in the official visitors list, Lewis' hometown of Brookhaven, MS, is actually closer to LSU than either Ole Miss or Mississippi State. How much that plays into his decision is unknown, but it certainly can't hurt matters.

The LSU coaches have kept lines of communication open with Lewis, even before the hiring of new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele (his primary recruiter at Alabama) or new defensive line coach Ed Orgeron.

Could LSU seal the deal on this official visit? We aren't likely to know until National Signing Day, but LSU sure is building a lot of momentum heading into the first Wednesday in February. Top 5 finish on tap? Stay here with us to find out.
